In the Art Room
Do you have:
- Any interesting seed pods and gumnuts we could use in our fairy garden?
- Old magnet calendars we can cut up?
- A domino set you no longer need?
- Large plastic bowls for plaster casting?
F/1M The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Last week we finished our Vase of Flowers, these will be up in the Plot to Pot room for Grandparents Day. Keep an eye out for their wonderful creations. This week we started our Very Hungry Caterpillar sculptures. The students worked at three different stations to create the component.
Station 1: We learned about symmetry as students used dabbers and paper towels to create the wings of the butterfly. They loved watching the colour spread out on the paper towel.
Station 2: We learned about mixing colours to create our caterpillar. Students mixed together blue and yellow modelling clay to create their green for the caterpillar. They added the head, eyes and antenna.
Station 3: Students painted their base in green tones and created a leaf for their caterpillar to sit on.
Year 2 Spring Flowers
Our grade 2 students worked on finishing their Spring Flowers this week. They added final watercolour details, glitter and made a paper clay bug to add onto the centre of the flower. These will be on display in the Plot to Pot room.
3/4 Pot Plant Still Life
These are coming together beautifully. We have now completed our backgrounds and are working on adding variation to our foliage.
5/6 Yayoi Kusama Sculptures
We started adding plaster bandages to our wireframes. The sculptures are really starting to come together. Next week we will be adding colour to our stems and starting work on the paper clay flowers.
