Acting Principal Update

Annie – The Musical

What a fantastic day we had! The weather was mostly on our side, with just a few light showers but overall, it was a truly successful and memorable experience. I couldn’t be prouder of our students. Their behaviour was exemplary throughout the day, both in and out of the theatre, representing Menzies Creek beautifully. We were also lucky enough to meet a few of the performers after the show for a quick chat. Zoe (who plays Duffy in the production) will be visiting Menzies Creek in the coming weeks for a special Q&A session! A special thank you to all the staff who attended the excursion, as well as those who remained at school to keep things running smoothly. We are so fortunate to have such a dedicated and supportive team here at Menzies Creek. 😊

Book Week – Dress Up Day

As part of Book Week (16th–23rd August), we’re excited to host a Dress-Up Day on Tuesday, 19th August. Students are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character to celebrate this year’s theme: "Book an Adventure!". This theme encourages children to dive into stories, explore new worlds, and spark their imaginations through reading. This year also marks the 80th anniversary of Book Week, a special milestone for this annual celebration organised by the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA). We look forward to seeing a school full of adventurous readers and creative costumes!

Menzies Creek Second Hand Book Sale

One of our wonderful Year 5/6 students, Maya, has come up with a fantastic idea to run a second-hand book sale following the parade on Tuesday, 19th August. To make this happen, we’re asking for donations of good-quality books you no longer need. These can be dropped off at the school office. Maya and her friends will be organising and selling the books to our school community, with all proceeds going towards purchasing new books for our library. This is a great student-led initiative, and we’re excited to support it. Thank you in advance for your donations and we look forward to seeing you at the book sale!

New School Wellbeing Programs

We are excited to be introducing some new school initiatives over the next term, such as student led lunch-time clubs as well as increasing and the frequency of our multi-age care buddy sessions. These activities will be a great opportunity for our students to strengthen their connections all whilst having some fun! We’ll also be revisiting our Student Voice Teams to ensure every student has the chance to actively contribute to their school experience in a positive and meaningful way.

Stay tuned for more details!

Kinder PMP

We kicked off our Kinder PMP (Perceptual Motor Program) sessions this week, and it was fantastic to see a number of excited young learners enjoying the fun challenges and obstacle activities. It was a great start to the program! We’d love to see even more Kinder-age children benefit from these engaging sessions so if you know any families with Kinder-aged children, please spread the word! Sessions are held every Wednesday morning at 9:30am in the school hall. To register, simply call Kate in the office.

Curriculum Day

A reminder that next Tuesday we are having a Curriculum Day, so no students attend school on that day.
