R U OK? Day

On Thursday 11th September,  we came together as a school community to celebrate R U OK? Day — a powerful reminder to check in with those around us and start meaningful conversations.

A huge thank you to Headspace Armstrong Creek, Surf Coast Youth, Woolworths Torquay, and Surf Coast Shire, for playing a key role in helping us nurture a caring and connected school community.

Let’s keep the conversations going — not just today, but every day.

R U OK? inspires and empowers everyone to meaningfully connect with the  people around them and start a conversation, because asking “R U OK?” really can make a difference. A conversation can change a life.

Wear It Purple Day

As a school community, we strive to foster a diverse and inclusive environment where everyone, regardless of their background or identity, feels valued and supported.

On Friday 29th August, 'Wear It Purple Day' united LGBTIQA+ youth and allies to shine a glorious light on the thousands of schools, community organisations, universities, and workplaces that came together to create a more inclusive future for all Australians.

Surf Coast Secondary College celebrated 'Wear It Purple Day' early this year, with students invited to collect wristbands and join in activities in the library to show their support.

We Believe that it is important to teach our students about acceptance, respect and inclusivity. By doing so, we are not only creating a safe and supportive environment now, but also preparing students to thrive in a diverse global society.

Be Ahead of the Game Presentations

Surf Coast Secondary College is proud to prioritise preventative health education. This term, our health promotion focus this term is gambling awareness, and we are fortunate to have Michael and Courtney from Meli present their Be Ahead of the Game program to all of our students.

Their workshops were thoughtfully tailored to different year levels, with each session helping to build informed attitudes toward gambling. Students gained valuable insights and awareness around key themes such as financial literacy, media advertising, and online gaming.

We truly appreciate their time and commitment to supporting young people in making informed and confident choices.
