Seniors Learning Itinerary

2025 CYCLE 3: BIG IDEA 1 LEARNING ITINERARY

What are we learning in the Senior School?

The School-Wide Key Understanding we are exploring this term is;

Sharing stories helps us learn and connect to ourselves, people and places.

Our first big idea to this understanding is…

We are looking at our past through ourselves

We expect this portion of our Inquiry to last approximately three weeks.

We have broken down this Big Idea into four key stages. These stages are;

  • Describe patterns of continuity and change throughout Australia’s history
  • Ask and develop historical questions to direct historical investigations
  • Construct historical interpretations using evidence from historical sources
  • Explain different historical interpretations

The Social and Emotional Wellbeing concept that we will explore through this Big Idea is Positive Gender Relations.

To enhance this portion of our Inquiry, in English, we will explore these texts;

  1. The Bookseller’s Apprentice (Excerpts) - Amelia Mellor (LittleScribe)
  2. Marvellous Melbourne - Web-Site
  3. Paddy’s market Melbourne (Youtube clip - narrated with photographs)

The English concepts that we will explore through these texts are;

  1. Audience
  2. Text Context

The Maths concepts that we will explore through this Big Idea are;

  1. Probability
  2. Fractions

To launch our inquiry this term, we’ll be heading on an excursion to explore the many stories of the city. If you're available, we'd really appreciate your help with supervision. We are planning to leave the morning of Wednesday, 20th. Please get in touch with your child’s teacher if you can assist.

With kindness,

Seniors Team
