Jump Rope for Heart
Due to unforeseen circumstance and the weather report, our original plan to host our "Jump Off" tomorrow has been rescheduled to next Thursday, 28th August. We encourage parents and carers to come along and support all our students who have undertaken a commendable task in raising so far $3,200 and still counting.
The Hoppet - Joey Race
The Kangaroo Hoppet is an international cross country ski event with three race distances, the 42km main event, a 21km event and the 7km Joey Hoppet. It is held at Falls Creek on the fourth Saturday in August
Students are welcome to registered for the Schools Team Challenge this year in the Joey Hoppet. With heaps more snow fallen and more on the way, it will be a very exciting Kangaroo Hoppet event this year. The School Challenge is perfect for all ages and abilities, the Joey Hoppet takes place on a wide, beautifully groomed course around the Sun Valley Loop at Falls Creek on mostly flat terrain.
The Joey School Competition has four categories for male (or mixed) and female teams from primary and secondary schools.
Each team can have up to 5 skiers, with the best three times going toward the team’s result. Schools may enter any number of teams.
Participants in the Joey Hoppet are eligible for four $1000 AGL Junior Development scholarships awarded to the fastest Australian boy and girl skiers aged under 14 and under 18 years. The age category is calculated on the age they turn this year.
For all the information go to the Hoppet website. You must link Mount Beauty Primary School to your registration. Individual students need to enter themselves first, and then notify our teacher in charge, Steph, so she can register the team(s) online.
Our school will receive a commemorative pennant and this year's is sure to look pretty cool in our new trophy cabinet!
Trophies and awards will be available for collection at the presentation evening on the Saturday night after the event.
