This is what our students have been up to this week.

Book Week Trivia Morning

After assembly last Friday, Carolyn hosted a Book Week Quiz, with all questions relating to the books that had been explored last week during our celebrations of Children's Book Week. Students where set up in groups of mixed ages for the competition with 6 rounds of questions.  Each round required students being able to remember certain things from each book and from the morning of the parade.

The winning group will be announced at tomorrow's assembly!

Science Week

This week Year 4/5 attempted to “Decode the universe” by making a model solar system using people as the planets to celebrate Science Week. The model was at a scale that accurately represented the distance between the Sun and the planets. We began by calculating a scaled distance from the Sun in metres for each planet, assigned people to represent each planet, dwarf planet, asteroid, and of course the Sun. Then we modelled their orbits by running and tracing their paths around the sun. We found out how much further the outer planets are from the Sun than you would expect. Unfortunately we could not represent the sizes of the planets to scale too!

Landcare Excursion

Today our Year 6 group headed out on a local excursion to get involved with the Upper Kiewa Landcare Group.  Students assisted the volunteers with tree planting along the Pebble Beach walking track.

Inter-School's Skiing

Well done to Charlie and Sam who participated in the Skiing Inter-Schools event held this week at Mount Buller.  The boys competed in the Alpine Giant Slalom, Ski Cross, Moguls and both had a great time. Charlie particularly enjoyed the conversations he had with other competitors and how everyone was so nice, while Sam enjoyed skiing with his friends and doing the Ski Cross.
