We are still investigating weather and how animals live and what seasons effect them, such as hibernating or growing thicker fur.
This week we have looked at what indigenous season we have moved into with a new month. Poorneet season (tadpole season) is September/October and we talked about tadpoles and where they live and their life cycle. Last week we looked at the Bulen-bulen (superb lyrebird) and how the male dances to attract a mate and what sounds they make. In Poorneet season the Bulen-bulen has finished the courtship displays and has found a mate. We explored the different indigenous plants that are flowering and many we have planted around the school.

We are busy planning for our picnic that will be on next Thursday September 11th. Miss West has kindly swapped classes with us so the children can have their picnic for morning tea 10-11am instead of at the end of the day in science class.
The subject is "Any day outdoors" and they will decide on the day whether it is an indoor or outdoor picnic and where we are going to go within the school grounds.
The children will bring home an invitation this week for any parents or soft toys to come on their picnic.
The school will provide fruit and the children can bring their normal morning tea and a drink bottle. This will be a lovely way to end the term as the next week is the day after production and will be playing some fun indoor or outdoor games.
