Prep to Grade 2:

Karate Fun!
Prep–2 students had an exciting karate session filled with energy and fun! They started with some warm-up stretches to get their bodies moving, followed by practicing simple punches and kicks with big smiles and lots of enthusiasm. The instructor from ALL STARS Martial Arts Academy taught them how to stand strong like a karate master and reminded everyone about the importance of listening, respect, and trying their best. It was a fantastic way to start the day—full of movement, learning, and confidence-building!

Literacy
Prep
It has been great to see the Preps finish their unit on information sentences.
The mentor text Our Dragon has been a great starting point for understanding narratives in the next unit.
The Little Learners Love Literacy Program is moving forward to digraphs (sh and ch).
1/2
This week in Year 1/2, students have been learning how to expand their writing by using prepositional phrases to describe where something is happening. They practised adding detail to simple sentences by including information about place, helping their writing become more interesting and specific. Students also explored character and setting innovation. These activities support students in developing richer vocabulary and more detailed sentence structures, building a strong foundation for storytelling and descriptive writing.
Numeracy
Prep
The students have been looking at repeated patterns and are excited about starting their unit on time next week.
Families are encouraged to look at analogue clocks at home as Preps are expected to know o'clock times.
1/2
In our fractions unit, the Year 1 and 2 students explored the idea of dividing things into equal parts. They used fun hands-on activities with shapes and paper to learn about halves, quarters, and thirds. The students enjoyed sharing items equally and discovering that fractions are just parts of a whole. Through games, drawings, and group work, they began to understand how fractions are used in everyday life. It was a fun and engaging way to build early maths skills and confidence!
Inquisitive Minds
Prep–2 students had lots of fun learning about weather with a special rain gauge experiment! They helped set up simple rain gauges using clear containers and waited eagerly to see how much rain would fall. Each day, the students checked the water levels and marked them to measure the rainfall. It was an exciting hands-on way to learn about weather, numbers, and observing the world around them—just like real little scientists!
