Weeks 7 & 8 Term - 3
SICKNESS: We have had a lot of sickness going around. Please keep your child home for at least 24 - 48 hours to ensure they recover and don't spread the germs. We all want to be well for Production Week - thanks for your support.
PRODUCTION is on in less than 1 Week!
Please head to the Specialist page to get ALL the important information you will need.
Our evening performance is now SOLD OUT!
WHAT A KNIGHT! - Important information
Tickets are still available from Trybooking
https://www.trybooking.com/DEQZB
Our evening performance is sold out, but there are still seats available for our matinee performance at 2pm. We would love for you and your family to come and see your child perform.
HATS on: A friendly reminder that all students need to be wearing hats every day (as of Sept 1st) - please make sure they are named.
'No hat - No play' until the end of April!
SUPERVISION:
Student safety at Waverley Meadows Primary School is our highest priority and the safe and appropriate supervision of students is an important element of our duty of care to students. Part of this duty is ensuring parents and students are aware of our student supervision arrangements before and after school.
Before school: School grounds are supervised by school staff inside our gates from 8.45am (staff arrive at 8.30am) and gates will be unlocked. Breakfast club commences at 8.30am. Please be reminded that our Outside School Hours Care Program opens at 7.00am each day.
Unless your child is signed in to attend OSH - there should be NO STUDENTS unsupervised left at school before 8:45am.
After school: School grounds are supervised by school staff until 3.45pm.
Students on school grounds outside these times will not be supervised (unless they are attending a before or after school care program or supervised extracurricular activity).
Parents/carers are requested to ensure that students do not attend school outside of these supervised times unless they are attending before or after school care, or a pre-arranged supervised activity (i.e. sports practice).
Families are encouraged to contact the office on (03) 9561 2879 more information about the before and after school care facilities available to our school community or if you would like any further information about our student supervision arrangements.
For a copy of our school’s Yard Duty and Supervision Policy, please contact the office. This policy includes WMPS student supervision arrangements across the school day, including before and after school.
Bathroom update:
Our Module A and B bathroom upgrades are progressing well. Plasterboard has been put up this week with waterproofing occurring next week.
We can't wait until they are finished and then they will start on the Junior module bathrooms.
Lots happening:
Once again, we have busy days at Waverley Meadows.
BOOKWEEK
Book Week was a huge success - with the theme being "Book An adventure" - we had a Book Week Parade to start our week - 2 author visits and book signings and lots of book related activities.
If you haven't visited the library lately - make sure you pop in to see our fabulous Book Week themed dioramas. They are outstanding!
VISIT FROM GUARDIAN CHILDCARE:
Last Thursday we hosted 43 children and their Carers from Guardian - we had a lovely day with them - they enjoyed planting, watering and mulching a tube tree to grow in our garden and then making muffins in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden. We are looking forward to them visiting again.
GRADE 2 SLEEPOVER:
Miss West and I were almost as excited as our students about our Grade 2 sleepover at school! We ate pizza for dinner in the staffroom and then had ice-cream and topping! We watched a movie and slept in the Science room and enjoyed the adventure of being at school all night! After an early start we had breakfast in the art room and then joined the Dads for Fathers Day pancakes.
THE SHRINE:
Sincere thanks to Monash Waverley Rotary Club for sponsoring our grade 5/6 students to visit The Shrine - we had an amazing day and the tour was excellent.
FATHERS DAY BREAKFAST:
Thanks to our staff and Jo and Laurie for being on pancake duty for Fathers' Day.
It was great to see so many dads and special people at our school.
REMINDER: School finishes next Thursday and assembly begins at 2.30pm.
Take care,
Meredith
