Year 4 Spotlight

Reflecting Back & Looking Forward
Year 4 has been a busy and rewarding year so far, filled with exciting learning opportunities, special events, and plenty of moments to celebrate. As a cohort, the students recently reflected on their experiences and shared what they have enjoyed most this year, as well as what they are looking forward to in the months ahead.
Highlights of the Year So Far
Students have particularly enjoyed being involved in our school events and celebrations. The athletics carnival, cross country and high jump were standout sporting highlights, while concerts across the school – including the Year 4 performance – were also favourites. Book Week was a wonderful celebration of reading and creativity, and many students mentioned how much they value spending time with friends during our “Fri-yay” sessions. Some students also highlighted their pride in completing Inquiry projects and in class novels such as Kensuke’s Kingdom.
Learning We’ve Loved
Creating fun and engaging learning experiences has always been our priority. Many have enjoyed our art projects, including box making with Marjie and exploring the vibrant work of Yayoi Kusama. Inquiry learning has been another highlight, with students exploring topics such as Aboriginal food, Indigenous art and culture, and even creating their own councils; as well as mapping neighbouring countries of Australia. History has been a strong interest area, with students eager to learn about 18th Century England, the First Fleet, and historical fiction texts such as Tom Appleby. In Mathematics, fractions has been a popular topic that our children have enjoyed learning. In Science, hands-on experiments like “melting butter” have been intrigued.
Looking Ahead
There is still so much to look forward to in Year 4. Excitement is already building for the Year 4 Camp and the Swimming Carnival, both of which will provide opportunities for challenge, teamwork, and fun. Students are also preparing for ART FOR ALL, a celebration of creativity across the school, as well as continuing to develop their own historical fiction writing projects.
It has been wonderful to see Year 4 students approaching their learning with enthusiasm and resilience. We are proud of all they have achieved so far this year and look forward to sharing many more memorable experiences together in term four.
