School Council Report

August School Council Meeting
Whilst Paul enjoyed some well-deserved long service leave, the school council met on 11th August, with Nicole Rettke standing in for Paul. There were updates on building works and policy reviews, plus our major fundraising event for the year, ART FOR ALL was discussed.
ART FOR ALL is progressing with a flurry of activity and it is now crunch time with the event being held on 29 – 31 August. We hope to see many of the school community attend and enjoy themselves over the weekend and the success of this massive three-day event is dependent on our parent community generously volunteering their time. We hope to fill the remaining volunteer spots so please consider signing up for a shift to help in one of the various tasks over the weekend: https://signup.zone/art-for-all-2025.
We are also putting the final call out for soft drink donations – any and all kinds of soft drinks are welcome and can be dropped off in the hallway table near the school office.
The council discussed the progress on the Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) and Nicole spoke to the work and professional development undertaken by the teaching team on the SWPBS, Literacy and Numeracy.
Parent contributions to the school, whilst voluntary, make a significant and important impact on the school’s ability to offer additional benefits to students such as extended nurse hours and valuable resources for classrooms. Whilst acknowledging the challenge for many families, when possible, parents are encouraged to make a contribution. School council noted that a lower proportion have contributed than previous years. If you can make a parent contribution, you can do so via Compass on your phone. Use the ‘Click here to proceed’ on the home screen then select ‘Action Centre’ where you will see ‘Contributions’ at the bottom of screen (see below).
Policy updates to the following were noted at council: Anaphylaxis Policy, Community Events Policy and going forward the school will use the Department of Education's policy for Digital Learning.
