Acting Principal Update

Thursday 5th June

Thank-you for your warm welcome!

I am delighted to join your wonderful school as Acting Principal while Dale takes some well-deserved leave. I have enjoyed getting to know the students, staff and families and look forward to continue making connections as the week progresses. You will find me outside before and after school so please come and have a chat.

Yesterday, it was great to watch Plot to Pot in action, with the grade 5/6 students making mini quiches from their spinach harvest in recognition of the upcoming King's birthday. Their skills, manners and enthusiasm for the program were impressive, with all students enjoying their quiche with a cup of tea!

Origami Fish Competition

Over the next two weeks, there will be a class competition to make the most origami fish. This may be a fabulous activity to complete at home and a great way to contribute to the class competition. There are plently of tutorials on YouTube of various types of fish that can be made if you are interested in joining in the fun! The fish will then be used to create the schools of fish for our Under the Sea exhibition which will be held on Wednesday, 2nd July from 3:00pm.

Division Cross Country

Well done to Harrison, Eilidh and Alfred Wi for competing in the division cross country on Tuesday, held at the Yarra Valley Racecourse. It is such a great achievement to make it to this level, and we would like to congratulate Eilidh for progressing to Regionals which will be held on June 12th!

Foundation 2026

I am thrilled to announce that next year - 2026, Menzies Creek Primary School will be running a dedicated Foundation (Prep) class. This initiative ensures a focused learning environment, enabling our youngest learners to benefit from tailored instruction that supports their developmental needs. The straight Prep class will provide a consistent and effective learning experience, fostering a seamless transition into formal schooling. It would be great if you could spread the good news, and we look forward to welcoming our new students and guiding them on their educational journey.

Breakfast Club

Thanks again to Mark and Emma who have been setting up and running the breakfast club each Tuesday morning. Unfortunately they will be heading off on their new adventure soon so we are looking for another volunteer who can hopefully take over this valuable role. If you are able to help out, please come and see Kate in the office or myself.

Whole school Production – save the date

‘Neptune’s Displeasure’ will be happening on Wednesday 10th September.  Anne is working with our underwater ocean theme to create this year’s production. Please keep the evening free.

Kind Regards,

Nadja Wood

(Acting Principal)
