Week 4 in the library has seen us celebrating the National Simultaneous Storytime - an event where millions of people all around the world read the same book at the same time. The NSS aims to promote literacy and the value of reading by using an Australian children's book that explores age-appropriate themes and addresses key areas of the National F-Yr 6 Curriculum.
The special story chosen this year was called "The Truck Cat" by Deborah Frenkel.
To fit with the theme, and to try to involve the whole school in the event, We created a "look and find" and hid lots of different pictures of cats all over the school. Each day, any student who found a picture could bring it back to the library for a lucky dip prize.
Mrs Viv Amoy and 2 year 7 girls - Prisayus B and Emma L gave up many of their lunchtimes to paint a beautiful picture for the library:
We have had special craft activities in the library at lunch time:
It's been a wonderful week celebrating reading and community together.
