Careers Corner

During their Badano lessons, Year 10 students have been engaging in activities designed to inform their subject selection decisions. Each student has been provided with a Subject Selection Handbook, serving as a comprehensive guide to the various VCE subjects and vocational options available in Years 11 and 12. Students are encouraged to thoroughly research and reflect on their interests, strengths, and future aspirations, enabling them to make informed choices about their subject selection.

SENIOR STUDIES PATHWAYS

Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE)

The VCE is the traditional academic pathway, typically chosen by students aiming for university entry. It involves completing a set of academic subjects, with assessments culminating in an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR). The VCE is ideal for those who prefer classroom-based, theory focused learning and aspire to pursue higher education directly after school.

VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM)

The VCE Vocational Major is a two-year applied learning program within the VCE, designed for students who prefer practical, hands-on learning experiences. Unlike the traditional VCE, the VCEVM focuses on developing skills for work and life through real-world applications. Students engage in subjects like VCE VM Literacy, Numeracy, Work-Related Skills, and Personal Development Skills. Assessment in the VCE VM is conducted through teacher-led activities, with the only external assessment being the General Achievement Test (GAT). This pathway is suitable for students aiming to enter apprenticeships, traineeships, TAFE, or the workforce directly after Year 12.
