Prep News

In reading the Preps have been learning about a reading strategy that is only used "in emergencies" and when you can't decode the word with any other strategy, (in other words you are completely stuck!!). Skippy frog means to skip the word and read to the full stop. Re-read the sentence and find a word "that looks right, sounds right and makes sense!". eg The boy slid through the window.

This week we have been focused on crashing into blends and discovering how they are different to digraphs. eg black, crab (blend = we can hear both sounds)  sheep, three (digraph= makes a new sound)

In Maths we have finished our unit on addition and now moving onto subtraction. The Preps have been learning that we can use similar strategies to subtract as we did in addition. They have also been picking up on the number bonds and patterns when using addition and subtraction.

It was lovely to welcome so many parents/ grandparents into our classroom during education week and help participate in a Gratitude lesson. We hope you enjoyed painting a rock for our new GEM garden.

Congratulations to Jack, who was our biggest fundraiser for the fun run. He won himself a scooter, medal and a certificate.

Below are some pictures of our Circus challenge on Wednesday. The Preps had a ball!!!!

Enjoy your weekend!
