Education Week
Last week was Education Week. We marked this event by hosting and Open Classrooms morning on Friday. It was lovely to see immediate and extended family members join us for our Resilience Sessions and to view our classrooms in action.
The Open Classroom morning was followed by a whole school assembly where the audience was treated to a special video showcasing our school. This video is available to view on our school Facebook page.
We then invited our visitors, students and staff to decorate a rock to go in our
GEM garden.

School Policies
A reminder that our policies are publicly available on our school website
( https://www.lockington.vic.edu.au/ ). Our policies are regularly updated and comply with the Department of Education policy guidelines. We have recently updated our policies in relation to Working With Children Checks, Anaphylaxis, Asthma, Administration of Medications, Bus Travel, Yard Duty and Supervision and Visitors. As always families and community members are encouraged to be familiar with our policies and invited to provide feedback and seek clarification via myself or school council.
Foodshare Table
Just a friendly reminder that our Food Share Table is located in the hallway near the school office. This initiative is here to support our school community.
- If your family is in need, please feel free to take any items you require.
- If you have excess non-perishable food items and would like to help, donations can be dropped off at the school office.
A heartfelt thank you to Theircare for their ongoing support in keeping the table stocked and available to those who need it.
Together, we can make a difference in supporting each other.
Health Notice: Illness Circulating in School Community
We want to inform you that we have seen an increase in cases of gastro and the common cold among students and staff over the past few days.
Common symptoms reported include:
- fever, cough, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhoea, fatigue
We encourage all families to monitor their children for symptoms and keep them home if they are feeling unwell. This helps prevent the spread of illness and protects vulnerable members of our community.
Here are some helpful reminders:
- Encourage frequent handwashing with soap and water.
- Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or elbow.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces at home.
- Keep your child home until they are symptom-free for at least 24 hours (or according to your local health guidelines).
If your child is diagnosed with a contagious illness, please notify the school so we can track cases and take any necessary precautions.
We appreciate your support in keeping our school community healthy.
Head Lice
Parents are advised that there has been reported cases of head lice in the school.
Please check your child’s hair regularly and treat with appropriate head lice lotion if any infestation is found.
End of Term Celebration
Our Parents and Friends Committee is hosting a Movie Night for all of our students. It will be on the last Thursday of Term 2 (July 3rd). This year there will be two movies, depending on a student's year level they will either attend for the first session or the second session. Students are not permitted to stay for both sessions. Dinner will be served after the junior movie has been shown and before the Year 3- 6 students commence their movie.
That is all for this week, Lisa Duffy.
