Jubilee 2025: Pilgrims of Hope

The Ascension

Last Sunday was the Feast of the Ascension. It is a very special day in the Church, celebrated 40 days after Easter! It's about Jesus going back to be with God in Heaven.

Jesus had finished his really important job on Earth, teaching everyone about God's love and showing them how to live. After he came back to life on Easter, he spent a little more time with his friends, the Apostles, helping them understand everything.

On Ascension Day, Jesus led his friends to a place called the Mount of Olives. He gave them some final instructions, telling them to share the Good News about him with everyone in the world. And then, right before their eyes, he was taken up into the clouds and went to Heaven, to be with God the Father.

This day is a joyful day for Christians everywhere. It shows us that Jesus' work on Earth was finished, and he is now in Heaven, where he rules over everything. It also gives us hope that one day, we can be with him in Heaven too. Even though we can't see Jesus with our eyes anymore, we believe he is still with us in a special way, especially in the Mass and through the Holy Spirit, whom he promised to send us to guide us.
