National Reconciliation Week
Next week is National Reconciliation Week. National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
The dates for NRW remain the same each year - 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey – the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision, respectively.
The 2025 theme is Bridging Now to Next. This reflects the ongoing connection between past, present and future.
In the NRW2025 theme artwork, native plants − which are known for regenerating after fire and thriving through adversity − symbolise our collective strength and the possibilities of renewal. This is a time for growth, reflection, and commitment to walking together.
Across the next week, each Learning Community will build understanding about National Reconciliation Week in different ways. Our Year 3 and 4 Community are starting a unit on Creation in Religious Education and will study the NRW 2025 artwork and its strong links to nature. Our Year 1 and 2 Community are participating in shared reading of the Welcome to Country series by Adam Goodes and Ellie Laing where they will learn about First Nations history.
