Building Update

Construction activity commenced on-site today with temporary fencing being installed around the Administration building and a section of the car park, securing their work compound.

As a result, a significant portion of the car park is now unavailable, which greatly reduces the space for parent parking during school drop-off and pick-up. Due to this change, we have had to implement immediate adjustments to our afternoon pick-up procedures. To ensure student safety and traffic flow, the following changes will apply:

  • All vehicles must queue upon entry to the school grounds.

  • Remain in your vehicle at all times.

  • Follow the instructions of school staff, who will be onsite to assist with the smooth flow of vehicles and supervise students.

📍 New Pick-Up Zone Location

  • The designated pick-up point will now be the ramp directly in front of the OLD Administration building.

  • Students will only be permitted to enter vehicles at this location.

  • Two cars at a time will be allowed to stop for pick-up.

  • All students waiting for pick-up will remain in the supervised area near the OLD office until called.

Walkers and Bikers

  • Students walking or biking must use footpaths and designated crosswalks.
  • All bike riders are required to wear helmets.
  • Parents meeting students on foot must wait in the designated pedestrian pick-up area and not in the car line.
  • Students and parents must leave campus promptly unless attending after-school care or programs.

Additional Changes

As of Monday 26th May, the pathway in and out of the front of the school will be closed so access will be granted via the double gates on the paddock in the mornings and afternoons. The 'pick up zone' will shift slightly to accommodate the change.

Disabled Parking

Please note that the three carparks running adjacent to the paddock are now reserved for  'Disabled Parking' only. Please respect this.

Ormond Road

Drop-offs and pick-ups at Ormond Road will remain as usual, yet please be aware that there will be additional congestion, so please exercise caution.

We will monitor the procedures carefully and adjust where necessary.

Unexpected Visitor

We had an unexpected visit from a feathered friend who decided to join our community yesterday to the delight of many children.

Our Year Prep children have named him Owie, and were very disappointed that he didn't return today.

The Big Problem with Classroom Interruptions

PA announcements, calls to classroom phones, children arriving late, children leaving early, forgotten lunches/hats/jumpers/water bottles, parent requests and unexpected visitors all interrupt students' learning and teachers' teaching.

Each interruption causes memory drops, accuracy drops, comprehension drops and loss of focus.

You may think a simple request to pass on a drink bottle is trivial yet studies show that if you multiply this by the number of disruptions schools typically experience, students are losing about 58.5 hours per year of learning. That's over 10 days of learning per year.

At Corpus Christi School, we have routines and processes in place to minimise these interruptions as much as possible, but we need your help.

Late arrivals and early departures are becoming a huge problem. Please arrive on time so that your child has time to get organised and prepare for the day ahead. Late arrivals are to come to the office and will be escorted by school staff (if need be) to their classroom.

Please refrain from collecting your child early from school unless there is an absolute need (convenience is not a need). Unnecessary early pick-ups are becoming problematic to classroom learning and admin operations.

Thanks for your understanding.

Fees and Levies

Families would have received an up-to-date Fee and Levy Statement recently. Unless you have set up a payment plan, the Individual Pupil Levy and the First Term Instalment should now have been paid.

Winter Uniform

All children are now expected to wear their full winter uniform. Runners are only to be worn with the sports uniform.  Black (school) shoes need to be worn with the winter uniform.

If you require clothing items, please submit your order ASAP, as due to the office relocation, it will take longer to process.

Have a wonderful week.

God Bless
