From The Team

Wow, what an incredible two weeks we’ve had!

Some of the highlights have included creating our own anchor charts, celebrating the Biggest Morning Tea for Cancer, participating in the Division Cross Country, presenting at assembly, and enjoying the School Disco.

On Wednesday 28th May, students who qualified for Division Cross Country headed off to represent our school.  It was heartwarming to see them not only run their best, but also support each other on the day. A huge congratulations to Laura and Phoebe for their fantastic efforts.

In Reading, we consolidated our learning about the features of non-fiction texts by creating anchor charts using magazines and old books. Our brilliant work is proudly displayed in the collaborative space - make sure to check it out!

We were also thrilled to perform at our assembly, where we sang Alknge Irlpe, an Indigenous school song. This powerful piece has been translated into three Indigenous languages of Central Australia - Arrernte, Warlpiri, and Luritja - and was originally performed by students from Yipirinya School in Alice Springs. It’s a wonderful way of preserving and promoting Indigenous languages, and we loved learning and performing it as part of our Integrated Studies on First Nations Cultures.

Another big event was the School Disco.  A huge thank you to our amazing PFA for organising it! Everyone who attended had an absolute blast!

We also held our Biggest Morning Tea and express a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed and attended, with an especially big thank you to Tina for organising such a successful event which raised over $500 for the Cancer Council!

We encourage you to take a moment to chat with your child and ask them about their favourite moment from the past fortnight. We're sure they’ll have plenty to share!

What We Are Learning

Reminders

  • As part of our Design unit, students are constructing obstacle courses using recycled materials. Please help your child collect any unwanted items from home - such as cardboard boxes, bottle tops, and pipe cleaners - to bring to school.

  • Reading Logs: These are due back at school each Friday. Daily reading is essential for your child’s development. Please help by reminding them regularly.

  • Homework: Homework is due every second Friday (Friday 13th June). This term, we ask for your support in encouraging your child to complete and return their homework by the due date.

  • Also, just a friendly reminder that students need to bring a water bottle and healthy brain food each day to help them stay energised and ready for learning!

Word Hunt Challenge At Home

🔍 Here’s how it works:

  1. Choose a page from a newspaper, magazine, or book.

  2. Set a timer for 5 minutes.

  3. See how many nouns, verbs, and adjectives you can find!

  4. Challenge a family member to do the same and compare your lists.

Bonus Challenge: Use 3 of your found words and create a silly sentence.

Have fun building your vocabulary together!
