OSHCLUB News

This week at OSHC, our Creative Inventors theme sparked imagination, teamwork, and plenty of hands-on fun! The children explored their artistic side by designing and building unique creations using recycled materials. Our edible science activity was a highlight as everyone loved making (and tasting!) their own ice cream in a bag while learning about how salt and ice can change the freezing point. Snack Squad was a big hit too, with the children learning new cooking skills as they made golden curry puffs, rolled nutritious energy balls, and baked delicious homemade cookies. Super Sport sessions kept everyone moving with a range of exciting games including footy, cricket, and group challenges, while Gagaball continued to be a crowd favourite. To finish off our days, we shifted gears with Brain Boosters, where students challenged their thinking with card games, board games, Wordle puzzles, and trivia. It’s been an exciting week full of learning, laughter, and creativity!

Next week, we will be honouring National Reconciliation Week with a range of meaningful activities across both our morning and afternoon sessions, designed to deepen children’s understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. Children will take part in creating a Handprint Pledge Wall and Acknowledgement of Country posters, as well as exploring Indigenous culture through symbol art and traditional Aboriginal dot painting. We’ll also support truth-telling and understanding through themed word searches, enjoy the Emu group game, learn about caring for Country through land care practices, and get hands-on in the kitchen by making damper. These activities aim to honour the history, culture, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in age-appropriate and respectful ways.

We are responsible for all children booked into our care. If a child does not arrive after school care when booked in to attend, we will need to confirm the whereabouts of the child by contacting parents/guardians and emergency contacts. If we cannot successfully do this, it then becomes a missing child incident.

As you can imagine, this can be very stressful!

Thanks for your cooperation by notifying us of any Stay and Play absences.
