Parent and Friends

It's been a huge few weeks to start Term 2, and we've had some great help to get all our events over the line.  I hope all our volunteers have been able to have a bit of rest since!  The rest of Term 2 is expected to be quite quiet, with some more fabulous events in the works for Term 3

Federal Election 2025

Whist it was some weeks ago now, our federal election day BBQ and stalls was a huge success, with our cake stall running out at 12pm, our BBQ hopping until 2pm and our books and toys seeing a steady stream of customers from open to close.  So many people were involved in helping this day happen, and I'd like to give them all a massive thankyou for volunteering their time to help out: Amy M, Elspeth M, Justine W, Bree D, Leigh M, Jerri N, George M, Jen T, Wayne D, Ash F, Drew C, Carol N, Roger D, Sam I, Ronnie I, Joe M, Nick W, Sarah W, Emmanuelle K, Fairooz K, Adrian B, Sarah K, Kristie C, Michelle W, Joe J, Ali S, Renee C, Lisa B, Frances B, Lachlan M, Dave G, Marissa G, Heidi B, Bel J, Lizzie C, Emily P

Also a huge thankyou goes out to everyone who walked our flyers, baked something yummy or donated toys or books.  Every single time you help is greatly appreciated.

Mother's and Special Persons Day Stalls

Our Mother's and Special Persons Day Stalls were also a great success, with our kinder and school students all coming through to grab a present or two for that special person in their lives.  Thankyou to Sarah K, Molly J, Ren S, Bree D, Emmanuelle K, Jess W, Rachel H, Renee C, Anna D, George M, Lisa Y, Kaz L, Xiuping C and Shereen O for helping out on the day.  And a really big thankyou to Joelene J and Ali S for helping with the organisation and running of the stalls.

Kinder Picture Plates

Our kinder families were all given the opportunity to participate in our picture plate fundraiser earlier this term as well, with some great designs coming through!  Thankyou to Sandhya M for helping me organise that event.  All orders have been sent off to the production centre, we will update you on an expected delivery date once we have more information from our providers.

P&F Meetings

Our next P&F meeting will be held in early Term 3.  P&F meetings are open to all, and I would encourage you to come along and have a chat, and find out more about what we do.

Coming Up In Term 3

Term 3 will see P&F venture back to the cinemas for our annual movie night.  We anticipate that this will occur sometime in August, so keep your eye out for more information heading your way soon.

We will also have Father's and Special Persons Day Stalls in Term 3.  These will run on Tuesday 2 September (grades 5 and 6), Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 September (kinder) and Friday 5 September (foundation to grade 4).

We are also looking into a new and exciting fundraising opportunity for Term 3, more on that soon!

Class WhatsApp Groups

All class WhatsApp groups have been set up for 2025.  If you have not received the details for your class chat, please email me at mprps.pf@gmail.com with your child's name and the class they are in, and I'll get you the right links.  These groups will play an important role in our communications this year, alongside our notices and the newsletter.

Community Support Representative

Our Community Support Representative is Jess Walker, who has been part of the MPRPS community as a parent for over 17 years.  Over her time, she has seen many changes at the school: staff, buildings, curriculum, events and many more. But the one thing that has never changed is the sense of connection and community our school offers.  Whether it's manning a Mother's or Father's Day stall, cooking sausages at Twilight Sports, being a parent helper in the classroom or having a coffee catch up with other parents after drop off, these are all valuable connections to our school community.

Another way in which MPRPS fosters connection to the community is by aiding families who may need a helping hand.  All families struggle with something at some time, and we can help make those times a bit more bearable.  Some of the ways we can assist is by providing meals to families who are having a difficult time. This could be due to an illness or a death in the family, or any other form of hardship a family may be experiencing. We have also assisted families to borrow or be gifted items for school camps such as raincoats, sleeping bags and other essentials. If we can't help with your request, we will do our best to connect you with services that can.

Jess understands that sometimes it can be difficult to ask for help, and she would like to assure everyone that all requests from parents and carers are confidential.  The community members assisting with the requests are not given the names of the family in need.  You can send Jess an email or text, or you can ask a friend to approach her on your behalf.  Chatting to your friends to bring awareness of this service would also help us spread the word.

If you believe we can be of assistance to you or your family, please email Jess on mprps.community@gmail.com or text/call her on 0433 050 092.
