SMILING MIND CURRICULUM - Orientation Lesson 1
The Smiling Mind Curriculum is an evidence-based program designed to support your child’s social and emotional development. Across all classrooms, at St Joseph's as a school-wide approach, we have commenced our first lesson of the Smiling Mind Primary School Program with Lesson 1 - Orientation.
The Smiling Mind Primary School Curriculum acknowledges the need to not only develop physical health and fitness, but also MENTAL FITNESS! With 1 in 4 children experiencing a mental health condition and almost 50% of people dealing with a mental health disorder across their lifetime, the need to keep a healthy mind is vital at all ages. Here's how Smiling Mind Curriculum helps to build mental fitness.
Lesson 1 Orientation Take-Home Sheet:
In our first lesson, we have been learning all about Mental Fitness, and the skills that support lifelong mental health and wellbeing. Classes have worked on this lesson to examine mental fitness and why it matters, as well as ways to practise mental fitness using the five key areas. Your child will be bringing a take-home sheet for you to continue their learning with them and to allow you some strategies to practise mindfulness as a family.
Below is an information sheet for you to read, so take a look, set up the free Smiling Mind app and try out the suggested activities with your child.
As you'll see from the QR Code above, Smiling Mind also offers loads of FREE RESOURCES FOR FAMILIES to explore together! From guided meditations to tools for fostering resilience, these resources are perfect for supporting wellbeing at home.

Let's experience the benefits of mindful practice together and support your child as they develop this 'superpower' of the mind!
