Religious Dimension

On Wednesday, we marked the beginning of Lent with a meaningful Ash Wednesday service, attended by both students and parishioners. In the Catholic tradition, the season of Lent offers a special opportunity to focus on prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Throughout this sacred time, our students will explore how they can make a difference in the lives of others through their participation in the Caritas Australia, Project Compassion initiative.
Caritas Australia channels the funds raised to those in need, supporting a variety of humanitarian projects. During Lent, students will learn more about these initiatives through engaging video stories and lessons in their Faith Based Inquiry classes. These stories will highlight how our contributions help support those less fortunate than ourselves. Our teaching is grounded in the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, they being; Human Dignity, Solidarity, Preferential Option for the Poor, Subsidiarity and Participation, the Common Good, and Care for Our Common Home. We will ensure that these concepts are shared in an age-appropriate manner for our primary school students.
To begin, we invite you to view the first video below, which demonstrates how Project Compassion has assisted a school in Samoa by providing students with access to clean drinking water.
Shrove Tuesday Thank-you
On Tuesday 4th March, we began preparing for our Lenten Journey by celebrating Shrove Tuesday. A big thank-you to Jessie, Hope and Sarah for making pancakes for our students.
St Joseph's Day and Harmony Day
Just a reminder, on Wednesday 19th March we will be celebrating St Joseph's Day and Harmony Day. Throughout the day students will be learning about St Joseph and his qualities as well as Harmony Day which recognises diversity and the importance of inclusiveness respect and care for everyone to have a sense of belonging.
We will begin the morning with a whole school mass at 9.15am, which we invite all families to come and join us.
At 12.30pm all students will walk to Sorrento Park where they will have a sausage in bread, icypole and be involved in our colour fun run. If you are able to assist on the day, please let me know.
Catholic Education Week
Catholic Education Week is an annual event that brings together our community in celebration of Catholic education. It is an opportunity to celebrate our unique mission of enabling our students to experience the fullness of life and to celebrate our thriving school community.
We are committed to faith-based learning that combines traditional and innovative learning opportunities with Catholic values including kindness, compassion, community and service. It is our mission to empower students to reach their full potential both in and out of the classroom.
The theme for Catholic Education Week 2025 is Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you (Is 60: 1).
In 2025, Catholic Education Week will run from Sunday 16 March to Sunday 23 March
