Academic Mentoring and Support

Academic Mentoring and Support Schedule 2025

Mount Alvernia College continues to support students by providing opportunities for students to seek additional help with their studies from Academic Mentors and staff during after school sessions. We encourage all students to use this valuable resource, and we thank all staff who volunteer their time.

Year 7 and 8 Homework support will be hosted in A103 and is supervised by teachers. Students are expected to be signed in by 3.25pm and may sign out at 4.30pm. Support for Year 7 and 8 is available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Students are to bring their own work to complete.

Year 9-12 Academic Mentoring will be hosted in the College iCentre and is supervised by Academic Mentors who are returning seniors. On an occasional basis, teachers may also attend Academic Mentoring to provide assistance. Students are expected to sign in between 3 and 3.15pm and may sign out at 5.00pm. Support for Year 9-12 is available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Students are required to work in a focused manner during session times and will be expected to come to sessions with specific questions that they are seeking help for or areas they are seeking improvement in. Regular attendance is likely to result in better outcomes.

The schedule for this program, noting start and end times each term, is available in the MyMtA Academic Tile. Please note, the program will not run in the first or last week of each term. Neither will support be available on Public Holidays or gazetted pupil free days.
