Assistant Principal

Year 9 & 10

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,

I hope this update finds you well as we continue through a busy and productive term.

Year 9 – NAPLAN Completion

Our Year 9 students have now completed NAPLAN, and we are incredibly proud of the way they approached this challenge. Sitting these assessments under exam-like conditions provided valuable experience that will support them in future academic endeavours. Their focus and commitment were commendable, and we congratulate them on their efforts.

Student Laptop Audit

However, the NAPLAN process highlighted an ongoing challenge—some students did not have access to their required devices, putting them at risk of not being able to complete their assessments. As a college, we do not have the capacity to provide loan devices for over 200 students. To address this, the IT team will be conducting an audit of all student laptops across year levels. If a device is identified as needing replacement, families will be contacted to ensure all students are adequately prepared for future learning and assessment requirements. We appreciate your support in ensuring students bring a fully functioning device to school each day.

Year 10 Assessment & Senior Pathway Preparation

Year 10 students are now completing their first round of assessment tasks. These assessments are not only a reflection of their understanding of coursework but also play a crucial role in preparing them for subject selection later in the year. The effort and commitment students put into their studies now will directly impact their senior years, whether they pursue VCE, VCE-VM, or another pathway.

We encourage all students to give their best effort in these assessments and to seek feedback from their teachers to understand their strengths and areas for growth. Now is the time to develop strong study habits and a consistent approach to learning to ensure they are well-prepared for the demands of the next 3 years.

Year 10 Grand Prix Excursion – Honour Be Ours!

Our Year 10 students recently attended the Grand Prix excursion, and we could not be prouder of the way they conducted themselves throughout the day. We received overwhelmingly positive feedback from members of the public and event staff about their respectful behaviour, enthusiasm, and engagement with the experience. Excursions like these are fantastic opportunities for students to learn outside the classroom and represent the college in the wider community. Well, done to all the students who attended!

Student Diaries & ID Cards – Essential for Daily College Life

A reminder to all students that they must bring their college diary to every lesson. Diaries are required for movement around the school and serve as an essential pass. Each student was provided with a free diary at the beginning of the year, but if lost, a replacement will need to be purchased from the general office.

Similarly, student ID cards are an essential requirement. These are the only form of photo ID available to students without a passport and under 18 years of age and will become increasingly important as they move into employment, VET courses, and external opportunities in Years 10, 11, and 12. From Term 2, student ID cards will also be required to access the library loaning function and student toilets, which will be locked for security reasons.

If a student has lost their diary or ID card, they must visit the general office to purchase a replacement.

Thank you for your ongoing support in reinforcing the importance of preparedness, responsibility, and academic commitment. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
