This year we have introduced two new learning apps from AssistiveWare called Estello and Micalo. The Estello app supports us to teach vocabulary and symbols to students in a consistent and engaging way. The Micalo app is an expansion of the Proloquo Thinking Space, allowing us to use symbols in a more varied and flexible way across learning areas. Classrooms have been implementing these apps in a wide range of lessons for the past few weeks, and the feedback from teachers and educators has been overwhelmingly positive. Teachers have shared that they are great tools for teaching that are supporting student and educator confidence with navigating AAC. While we are still in the early stages of exploring these apps, teachers are very excited to keep exploring new ways to use them. 

On Friday we welcomed David Niemeijer, Founder and CEO of AssistiveWare, and Olga Reutelingsperger, Director Product at AssistiveWare to our school. David and Olga were visiting as part of our ongoing partnership between St Patrick's and AssistiveWare, to gather our feedback on the new apps and see how they have been implemented in classrooms. David has previously visited our school on multiple occasions and shared that some of our previous feedback has helped shape the development for these new apps!
