As we move further into the term, I would like to thank our students, families and staff for their ongoing support in maintaining a positive, respectful and successful learning environment across our school.
Families are reminded of the growing concerns surrounding young people’s use of social media and online platforms. The eSafety Commissioner continues to provide important advice to families about keeping children safe online, particularly for students under 16 years of age.
Many social media platforms have age restrictions and the eSafety Commissioner strongly encourages parents and carers to carefully monitor access, screen time and online behaviour. Research continues to highlight the impacts excessive social media use can have on young people’s wellbeing, sleep, concentration and emotional health.
Families are encouraged to:
regularly discuss online safety with their children
monitor app downloads and privacy settings
encourage respectful online behaviour
ensure devices are not interfering with learning, sleep or social development.
Further parent resources and advice can be found through the eSafety Commissioner website.

Winter is coming.
Thank you to the many students who consistently wear their school uniform with pride. Wearing full school uniform promotes a sense of belonging, safety and school pride, while also helping students prepare for future workplace expectations.
We ask all families to continue supporting the school by ensuring students attend each day in the correct uniform, including appropriate footwear. Students out of uniform should provide a note from home explaining the reason.
Students are reminded that upcoming rewards excursions are fast approaching. These excursions are designed to recognise students who consistently demonstrate positive behaviour, strong attendance and commitment to their learning.
To be eligible to attend, students must:
maintain attendance above 80%
not be on a Formal Caution
demonstrate respectful positive behaviour and engagement at school.
We encourage all students to continue making positive choices so they can participate in these exciting opportunities.
Finally, we ask parents/carers to speak with students about the importance of behaving appropriately in student bathrooms. Bathrooms are shared spaces that should remain clean, safe and respectful for everyone.
Unfortunately, inappropriate behaviour, damage and misuse of facilities can impact the wellbeing and comfort of other students and takes valuable time and resources away from teaching and learning. Students are reminded to:
use bathrooms respectfully and responsibly
keep facilities clean
report any concerns or damage to staff immediately.
We appreciate the support of families in reinforcing these expectations at home.
Thank you again to our school community for your continued partnership and support. Together, we can ensure our school remains a safe, respectful and positive environment for all students.
Celebrating Positive Attendance at Our School
At Francis Greenway High School, we value and celebrate positive attendance. Regular attendance helps students build strong learning habits, maintain friendships, and achieve their personal best at school. Throughout the year, we recognise and reward students who demonstrate excellent attendance or make significant improvements.
Some of the ways we celebrate positive attendance include:
PBL draw for students with attendance of 100% - canteen vouchers presented at school assemblies
Fortnightly celebration posts on Facebook
Positive PBL points awarded each term for attendance over 95%
Positive letters home recognising excellent or improved attendance
Attendance celebration lunch each term
Reward excursions for eligible students (students with attendance over 80%)
We thank families for their ongoing support in helping students attend school every day and engage positively in their learning.
Our Attendance Expectation – Over 90%
In line with the expectations of the NSW Department of Education, students are expected to maintain an attendance rate of above 90%. This means attending school every day unless there is a valid reason such as illness or approved leave.
Students with attendance below 90% are considered at risk of disengagement, and our school works closely with families to provide support where needed. Students with attendance over 90%
