"An expert is a person who has made all the mistakes that can be made in a very narrow field." – Niels Bohr

Term 2 is typically a fairly busy term as we move towards the first reporting period. It also sees the second round of assessment tasks for most years become due. Please make sure you check with your child as to when any tasks are required to be completed by.

Over the year, we have had our students complete many scientific investigations that help them understand the sometimes complex concepts in a fun and engaging way. As an example, Mr Shelton's Y11 Earth and Environmental Science were investigating what a typical soil profile looks like. To do this, they used a hand auger (basically a long tube with a handle) to dig out the soil under their feet to determine what each layer was made of. Students seemed to enjoy the hands-on work and getting physical on the back field.

Year 8 also studied Forces earlier this year. This was a very practical topic and some of the experiments they did look like lots of fun! The following photos are from Mrs Andruschak's 8Y class.

Watch this space as Science Week is rapidly approaching. Held in August every year, we have fun activities throughout the week that align with the theme for that year. This year's theme is:

That's all for us this term in Science. I look forward to telling you more about what we have planned for Term 3.
