PD/H/PE
The PDHPE faculty has had a busy and engaging start to the term, with students participating in a range of health and movement learning experiences designed to support their physical, social and emotional wellbeing. Across all year groups, students are developing their understanding of movement, health and active lifestyles through collaborative activities, fitness participation and classroom investigations.
Year 7 students are currently completing the integrated unit Exploring Physical Health, where they investigate factors that influence health and wellbeing while participating in a variety of activities that promote healthy lifestyles.
Year 8 students are studying Sexuality and Sexual Health in Health and Essential Skills in Sport in Movement. These units focus on respectful relationships, personal development, communication skills and developing confidence and competence in a range of sporting contexts.
Year 9 students are exploring Healthy Relationships in Health and Movement Composition in Movement. Students are developing their understanding of positive relationships, communication and decision-making, while also creating and performing movement sequences and applying movement concepts in practical settings.
Year 10 students are studying Mental Health and Challenges in Health and Fitness in Movement. These units encourage students to examine factors that influence mental health and wellbeing, strategies for resilience and support, as well as participate in fitness-based activities and training principles to improve physical performance.
Some PDHPE units involve sensitive or mature subject matter, including relationships, sexuality, mental health and personal wellbeing. These topics are taught in an age-appropriate, respectful and supportive learning environment in line with NSW syllabus requirements, with a strong focus on student wellbeing, informed decision-making and respectful discussion.
We encourage families to continue conversations at home and support students as they engage with these important learning experiences. If you have any questions regarding course content, please contact the PDHPE faculty.

Under 18’s Boys Rugby League
Congratulations to our U18s Rugby League boys on an incredible game at Cessnock, after progressing to the next round of the University Shield.
The boys narrowly missed out on a Grand Final spot in a try being conceded right on the bell, but they should be extremely proud of their effort and the way they represented the school. The determination, resilience and teamwork shown throughout the game was outstanding, with the boys fighting until the very final second. While the result didn’t fall our way, their commitment, sportsmanship and pride in the jersey did not go unnoticed.
