Stage 4 HPGE Creative Domain students have been participating in a specialised Visual Arts community project in partnership with the Beresfield Parish. Students are designing and constructing a functional street library for the local community while developing authentic artmaking skills.
Working alongside a Visual Arts specialist, students have explored design processes, material experimentation and construction techniques while responding to a real-world brief. The project has provided students with valuable opportunities to develop creativity, collaboration, problem-solving and technical skills in a meaningful community context.
FGHS students have once again been selected to participate in the Hunter Schools Art Collection, an annual exhibition celebrating outstanding student artwork from across the Hunter region. Selected artworks will be showcased at various regional arts events throughout the year, including Choral fest, Band fest, Hunter Drama Festival and Star Struck.

Our Year 9 and 10 music students have continued entertaining the school community through lunchtime pop-up concerts. Students independently organise, set up and perform at these events, building confidence and valuable performance experience while sharing their musical talents with others.

For the past four years, FGHS Visual Arts teacher Alana Parker has worked alongside professional artists as part of the NSW Department of Education’s Art Matters program at Maitland Regional Art Gallery.

✨ Expressions of interest are opening soon - Parents and carers will have the opportunity to self-nominate their child for this enriching program. This is a fantastic chance for students with a passion for art to extend their skills, work alongside like-minded peers, and experience what it’s like to create in a professional artistic environment.✨ The nomination link will be available in the Term 2 FGHS newsletter and will be posted across the FGHS socials - STAY TUNED!
