Thank You to Direct Chemist Outlet Trafalgar for Supporting Our Lunchtime Clubs
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Direct Chemist Outlet Trafalgar for their generous donation of children’s toys to support our Lunchtime Clubs program. These toys will provide students with new opportunities to play, connect with friends, and enjoy a variety of activities during their break times.
Community support like this helps make our Lunchtime Clubs a welcoming and engaging space for students. We greatly appreciate the kindness and generosity shown to our school.
Our Behaviour Curriculum: Inclusion Means Shared Standards
At Trafalgar Primary School, we believe that inclusion means every student is a valued part of our community. One important way we create this sense of belonging is through shared standards for behaviour and learning.
Inclusion does not mean having different rules for different students. Instead, it means that everyone belongs to the same community and works toward the same expectations. When expectations are clear and applied consistently, school becomes more predictable and fair. This helps students feel safe, respected, and confident about what is expected of them.
Of course, students sometimes have reasons for their behaviour. They may be tired, frustrated, worried, or finding their learning difficult. These reasons are real and important, and they should always be taken seriously by the adults who support them. However, understanding a reason does not always mean removing a consequence. A reason helps us understand what happened, but it does not necessarily excuse the behaviour.
If exceptions become too common, expectations quickly become unclear. Students begin to wonder where the boundaries really are, and the system can start to feel unfair to those who are doing the right thing under the same pressures. For this reason, schools must be careful that exceptions remain rare, thoughtful, and based on clear evidence, rather than on the moment or the situation.
This does not mean ignoring student needs. In fact, it is the opposite. Compassion and consistency must work together. When a student is struggling, we look closely at what support they might need; whether that is learning support, wellbeing support, or adjustments to help them succeed. But this support sits alongside expectations, not instead of them.
By holding clear and consistent standards while also providing support, we protect both dignity and fairness. Students learn that their circumstances are understood, but that responsibility still matters. Over time, this helps build the kind of school culture where every student knows they belong, where boundaries are trusted, and where learning can thrive.

Here's some puns to get you through the weekend.
- What do nuclear plants serve their workers for the Labour Day party? ... Fission chips.

- If you don't have to work on Labour Day, shouldn't it be called No Labour Day?
Get to know your Committee
Each newsletter we will introduce someone on our committee. Next is our Treasurer, Elly Goodman.
Elly Goodman - Treasurer
Hi everyone! I have a Year 1 student at school this year (go McGregor!) and this is my second year with P&F. I have enjoyed being part of the events and the broader school community and I am excited to take on the role of Treasurer this year. Outside of school, I am doing kinder drop-offs, working, gardening and being bossed around by a cat and our 6 chickens.
We have one more office bearer to introduce, in the last newsletter for this term. In term 2 we'll introduce some of our general committee by answering some frequently asked questions, following attendance at our April meeting. If parents or students have any questions related to P&F, please email them across and we'll try to answer as many as we can.
Next Meeting
Our next meeting is as follows:
Date: Tuesday 28th April
Time: 7-8pm
Location: Adult Learning Centre, Trafalgar Primary School, opposite the office with a Zoom link also available upon request. Please sign in at the office first.
