SCHOOL FUNDING ANNOUNCEMENT
THE SONG ROOM CONTINUES AT GROVEDALE WEST PS FOR A FURTHER THREE YEARS!!
We are delighted to announce that The Song Room will continue at Grovedale West Primary School for a further three years, building on the strong foundations already established through our partnership with the Geelong Community Foundation.
This continued funding ensures the program will be delivered weekly throughout 2026, providing consistent opportunities for students to develop their musical skills, confidence and creativity over time.
Thanks to this generous support, students and teachers will benefit not only from high-quality, in-class music learning, but also from professional learning for staff and opportunities to share their achievements through collaborative music experiences within the school community.
We are incredibly grateful to the Geelong Community Foundation for their ongoing investment in Arts education, helping to ensure our students continue to thrive through creativity, collaboration, and rich learning experiences.
JUNE STUDENT REPORTS
We will be providing student achievement reports for Semester 1 this year as usual. For each curriculum area taught, the report will include a teacher judgement and an indication of progress since the curriculum area was last reported on. Teachers will also report on student work habits for each subject by grading them as Needs Attention, Acceptable, Good, Very Good or Excellent for:
Application for learning
Classroom behaviour
Interaction with other students.
Descriptive comments will not be included because of industrial action taken earlier this term by the Australian Education Union.
PARENT/CARER/TEACHER CONVERSATIONS
Our parent/carer/teacher conversations are scheduled to be held on Wednesday 24th June 1.00pm - 6.00pm to provide an opportunity to discuss student reports. More information to come on Compass, including how parents/carers can book a time that suits them.
REMINDER – PUPIL FREE DAY
A reminder that with Friday 5th June being a common professional practice day for staff, this is a pupil free day.
TEACHING AND LEARNING – STUDENT ASSESSMENT
Teachers attend meetings every week after school, and this week we engaged in a Writing Moderation task. Teachers read samples of student writing and then worked in groups to assess student achievement to the Victorian Curriculum 2.0. This process assists teachers to report student achievement in the upcoming June reports. Below are some photos.
