Devotion

As we approach National Reconciliation Week, we are invited to reflect on what reconciliation truly means in our school, our community and our own hearts. The 2026 theme, All In, is a powerful reminder that reconciliation is not something we simply talk about once a year — it is something we actively live out every day.

In Micah 6:8, we are reminded:

“Act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God.”

These words challenge us to think about the way we treat others, the way we listen, and the way we respond to the stories and experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Reconciliation asks us to walk humbly — to learn, to listen deeply and to acknowledge both the pain and the strength within Australia’s history.

The theme All In reminds us that reconciliation is everyone’s responsibility. As a school community, this means choosing respect, curiosity, kindness and understanding. It means valuing the cultures, voices and wisdom of First Nations peoples, and recognising the importance of truth-telling and genuine relationships.

Jesus showed us what it means to include others wholeheartedly. He welcomed people who were overlooked, listened to those who were unheard and built bridges where others created division. As Christians, we are called to do the same.

This Reconciliation Week, may we be a community that is “all in” — all in for learning, all in for listening, all in for respect and all in for walking together toward a more just and hopeful future.

Let us pray:

Loving God, Thank you for the rich cultures, histories and wisdom of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Help us to be people who listen with open hearts, act with kindness and seek justice in our daily lives. Guide our school community as we learn to walk together in respect and understanding. May we be “all in” for reconciliation — not just this week, but every day. Amen.
