Primary Years Programme

Moving toward Evaluation in 2024

International Baccalaureate Programme Evaluation

"There are some beautiful places in the world, and Preshil is one of them."

Middle Years Evaluation Team, 2021

Every 5 Years, each of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programmes, being offered in schools, is evaluated, a process which  engages a school in reflective practice and the ongoing cycle of improvement.

In 2024, the Primary Years Programme will be evaluated, to ensure that we are demonstrating fidelity to the aims of the IB, and to the standards, of the Programme.  It is a time for our team to reflect on how the Programme sits within the Arlington context, how our delivery of the Programme has developed over time, and how it might further develop into the future. This also provides an important opportunity to utilise the IB Programme Standards and Practices as a lens to frame our objectives as a progressive school.

At Arlington, we will continue to challenge ourselves with the ongoing and dynamic interpretation of the principles set down by the founders of our school; Greta and Mug Lyttle. Evaluation requires that we measure these against the rigours of the IB Primary Years Programme.

Part of the Evaluation process is the presentation of a school devised Programme Development Plan, in which a school determines what part of the PYP programme they wish to focus on and develop. Our whole school unit of inquiry under the theme "How We Organise Ourselves" is the cornerstone of our plan, as it focuses on a key element of the programmes, that of Service.

In due course, parents will have an opportunity to be involved in this process of reflection and Evaluation, and we invite interested parents to make contact with Libby Gronn, our Primary Years Programme Coordinator
