Rounding out the Year

Ciao, Ni Hao, Bonjour Day

On Wednesday, 22 November, 2023, we held our transition into 2024 day, where all children in the primary school moved up into their 2024 groupings. It was also a time to meet our new staff members Nick and Jordane, as well as the new children joining our community. It was lovely to feel the excitement that this day always brings.

Hey History Podcast

On Friday, 27 October, children from the Sunroom and Peppercorns were invited to be interviewed for the Hey History Podcast. This is an initiative of Impact Studios, an audio production house that unlocks academic research through engaging and accessible podcasts, thought UTS.  We hope to share a link to the Podcast when it goes live.

Basketball Tournament

On Tuesday 14 November, a group of children from the Sunroom and Peppercorns headed to Boroondara Sports Complex to participate in the inaugural Camberwell Dragons Classic, an inter-school basketball competition. Children at Arlington self selected to take part, and were ably coached by Josh and parent Adrien Sturt - a career basketball player.

Our children gave their all, with the boys coming third, and the girls coming fourth, and they represented Preshil though fair play, encouragement for all and a whole lot of fun.

Year 9 Coaching Certification

Every year our Loft Room children support our Year 9s to obtain their coaching certification by participating in a series of activities through which they are coached. This year, the children spent two sessions at The Big School learning skills of kicking, throwing, catching and relay racing.

Introducing Jordane and Nick

We are delighted to be welcoming two new class teachers to our team for 2024. Here is a little about them both.

Jordane is an experienced Primary School Teacher of over a decade, who has most recently been working in the education space at Museums Victoria, as an Education Program Producer (Design, Inquiry & Technology), as well as working in the education space with the NGV. Jordane is accomplished as a teacher and facilitator for both children and young adults, as well as her teaching peers, running workshops for teachers including object-based hands-on workshops and inquiry and design workshops through the Museum. She holds a Master of Teaching, and is thrilled to be joining the Preshil team.

Nick joins us, as Cherry did, as a parent of students at Blackhall Kalimna, and so he has been a part of our community for a couple of years already. Nick is passionate about Preshil, having seen how his own children have blossomed here. Nick is Chair of the History Teachers’ Association of Victoria and has implemented imaginative and immersive history inquiries in classrooms. Nick has been teaching in the independent sector for many years and holds a Master of Education.
