Farewell to Amanda Gengaroli

As everyone would be aware by now, Amanda Gengaroli is retiring at the end of the year. She has spent the last 21 years at St John’s as a member of the STEM faculty.

In this time, she has taught everything from Junior Science to Senior Chemistry, in addition to being an RE teacher and a founding member of the Aquila house.

Over the years she has brought a great enthusiasm to her teaching and a caring attitude towards her students. She has spent untold hours outside of school time planning lessons, correcting work, and finding ways to best engage her students so that each of them could achieve their best. Her love of science is demonstrated by her inquisitive mind and her willingness to share her knowledge with students and staff alike.

So on behalf of the STEM teachers and students, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Amanda for her service to the college and wish her all the best with her retirement, it is most definitely well deserved.

I would also like to thank Dr Julian Fernando for his work this year. Julian has worked tirelessly this year to help the college out to ensure that our Physics students had the greatest chance of success after their previous teacher departed. He has also worked extensively with our junior students in a number of subjects and brought his own unique set of skills to his classes, allowing opportunities for students that otherwise would not have been possible.
