MARKET DAY

MS MONIQUE WATT - CURRICULUM LEADER HUMANITIES

There was an incredible entrepreneurial spirit displayed by the talented students from the Year 9/10 Money Markets classes on Wednesday, November 15th. The Red Court Area transformed into a bustling marketplace as students set up their small businesses, offering a delightful array of treats and snacks. The experience was not just about making money; it was a hands-on lesson in financial literacy, teamwork, and creativity.

The entrepreneurial ventures were as diverse as they were delicious. Each student brought their unique flair to the market, showcasing a variety of culinary delights. Here's a snapshot of the businesses that took centre stage: Pancakes, Burritos, Sushi, Slices, Donuts Delights, Dumplings, Sausage Rolls, Smoothies, Spiders, Cupcakes, Snow Cones and Hot Dogs.

This hands-on project wasn't just about delicious treats; it was a lesson in entrepreneurship, financial responsibility, and collaboration. Students worked in teams to plan and execute their small businesses, experiencing firsthand the challenges and joys of running a venture.

The diverse array of small businesses set up by the students not only delighted taste buds but also contributed to a greater cause. I am thrilled to announce that the students raised almost $600 through their entrepreneurial ventures, and they are channelling these funds toward a charitable cause.

"I am incredibly proud of the effort and creativity displayed by our Year 9 students. This project goes beyond the classroom, providing practical insights into the world of business and finance. The students not only had the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge but also gained valuable experience in teamwork, marketing, and customer service."
