Mrs Hodgetts - House Event

An acrostic is a poem or other word composition in which the first letter of each new line spells out a word, message or the alphabet. Sometimes each line may a word, but it can be a phrase or even a paragraph!

For the final House event of the year, students can write an acrostic poem using the word: CHRISTMAS. I absolutely love Christmas. It is my favourite time of year.

Here is my acrostic poem.....sharing some of my families Christmas traditions!

C: Custard completely drowning my delicious pudding!

H: Howzat! There is always a game of backyard cricket while waiting for lunch!

I: I'll be home for Christmas and other Elvis songs play on repeat!

S: Stockings are hung on the staircase and the pets are always included!

T: Theme ...the children take it in turns to choose the colour theme each year!

M: Monopoly, Rumikub, Checkers .....board games after lunch are mandatory!

A: Advent involves opening and reading a Christmas themed picture story book every night ...finishing traditionally with The Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve.

S: Snacks are left out for Santa and the reindeer ....usually our favourite shortbread!

Students can enter this competition until Monday 11 December.
