Holocaust Exhibition
On Tuesday the 5th of December our Year 9 students completed an integrated unit studying the Holocaust in Humanities and English throughout Term 4. In Humanities the students learned about the history of the Holocaust, and this was complemented by a range of text studies in English including excerpts from "The Diary of Anne Frank". The students were able to connect their learnings across the two subjects to create an exhibition celebrating their work called The Light in the Darkness. This year the exhibition also had an added memorial component where our guests were invited to sit quietly and reflect on the exhibition. The students had decorated this room with butterflies to memorialise some of the victims of the Holocaust and the flickering candles lent a beautiful ambience to the room. Our Year 9 families and the wider Viewbank community were invited to attend the evening and it was wonderful to see so many families coming to see the exhibition that their students created. We would also like to acknowledge the hard work of our wonderful Year 9 English and Humanities teachers who led their students through this project.

Junior Debating
In Semester 2 this year, our Junior Debating team represented Viewbank College with distinction. Competing in the Junior Secondary Program, our team defeated Parade College and Ivanhoe Grammar in debates about the importance of school tests and the use of animal products. Ruby Quick, Ved Nimbalkar, Emily Ding, Jayda Koch and Bethany Cadusch all excelled and demonstrated excellent team work skills and the ability to articulate arguments. Thanks to their parents for supporting them, and to Ms Fenech and Mr Raseta for guiding these students through their first debating competition.
