Grade 6 Graduation

Thursday 14 December was a wonderful night as we celebrated the achievements of our 2023 Grade 6 students. Graduation night is always a special occasion as we get to acknowledge this remarkable group of students and just how far they have come since they first started school as tiny preps!

We will be sad to see the Grade 6s move on from LEPS to secondary school as they have had a positive impact on us all. We hope they continue to make a positive impact in their lives post LEPS and alsways rememeber to be 'good people'

A huge amount of work goes into these kinds of evenings. Many hours are spent behind the scenes making sure everything is ready for us to enjoy. Thank you to:

  • the parents/carers for making sure the students looked so amazing on the night. (Defintely a step up from their every day school uniform!)
  • Amanda and Pauline for coordinating the construction of the Graduation Bears and making sure everyone was fed on the night
  • Luis, Hannah and Kristian for overseeing the production of the amazing graduation book
  • Kristian and Hannah for all their work to ensure the students were 'performance ready' with the incredible video and performance on the night
  • Katie Nelson for her work to make the gym such a festive space for the evening
  • Alesha and Craig for pumping out the rad tunes for the dancing
  • staff for supporting the students by attending the evening
  • Ahmed, Jina, Hasan and Ivy for their brilliant job being the Masters of Ceremonies on the night and keeping us all on track. Their second last 'official function' for 2023.

We are still in the process of trying to recruit another staff member to work in the 1-2 team and will provide further details once the new staff member is confirmed.

We are sadly saying farewell to several staff at the end of 2023.

Julie Hewison has secured a position at Barrawang Primary School and is very excited about her new working opportunity. I am sure the Barrawang community will soon come to love her as the LEPS community has over the last 28 years.

Jeanette Kelm is taking leave in 2024 and we wish her all the best for any future endeavours. Jeanette has worked at LEPS for 23 years and has also made a significant impact on the school in her time here.

Charlene Stewart will also be leaving us as she has secured an ongoing role at Wollert Primary School. We would like to thank her for stepping in to our Prep role earlier this year to replaced Brad Jones.

Jessica D'Angelis will also be farewelling us after replacing Shona McCulloch during Term 4. Jessica has also secured a position at Barrawang Primary School and we wish her all the best in her new role.

Farewell to any students and families who are leaving us this year to move to new schools. Some families are leaving us after over 10 years as their last child has completed year 6. We have loved having you be part of the LEPS Family and wish you every success for the future.

Christmas Raffle Winners

Our epic Christmas Raffle was drawn yesterday at assembly. Thanks to the generosity of our school community, we were able to give away a total of 20 different prizes and raised over $1500 for our Library Refurbishment Project!

You can check out all of the winners on the office page of the newsletter.

2024 School Captains

We also announced our 2024 School Captains at our assembly yesterday. Congratulations to Linda, Jayla, Malek and Kassem who were elected to the role.

Our outgoing school captains, Ivy and Ahmed, announced the successful candidates and gave very heartfelt speeches about our new leaders and how much they are looking forward to them taking on this role.

Their official badge presentation, along with the formal announcement of our remaining leadership positions will take place early in the 2024 school year.

Start of Term 1

Best wishes to you all for a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Whether you are travelling or resting at home, be sure to stay safe, slip, slop, slap and rest up (or maybe even crack open a book or play your favourite boardgame!)

Our mission of ‘making good people’ kicks back off again for students on Tuesday 30 January 2024.
