The Argyle Street Campus
Friends’ Early Learning
Friends’ Early Learning operates from 7.30am - 6pm on school days and provides before and after school care, long day care, a pre-kindergarten educational program and vacation care.
Primary School
Primary School is made up of Kindergarten, housed in Swarthmore, Prep to Year 2 classes, located in the Wells building, and the Years 3 to Year 6 classes in the Walpole building. There are specialist art and music classrooms, a library, a student support centre and various other teaching and office areas. Primary School has approximately 450 students.
Middle School
Years 7 & 8 occupy Clemes, Palfreyman and Meredith buildings. There are approximately 300 students enrolled in the Middle School.
The Farrall Centre
This purpose-built assembly hall allows up to 800 people to gather for a range of activities.
Quaker Meeting House
The Hobart Meeting House of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) is on the Boa Vista Road site.
Walker House
Walker House is an on-campus student residence that accommodates up to 23 male and 23 female, domestic and international boarders. It is located on Lewis Street and has a direct entrance to the Argyle Street campus. Jason McDonald is the Director of Residence.
The Commercial Road Campus
The Commercial Road site is linked to the Argyle Street site by a short walk (5 minutes) across the overpass from Wilson and Carr Streets. Commercial Road is used for access to the main Administration Office for the whole School.
Senior School
The Senior School caters for students in Years 9 to 12 and occupies most of the Commercial Road campus. The Senior School has approximately 580 students enrolled, with each student allocated to a vertical House tutor group. Students are encouraged to seek pathways advice and course counselling through the Pathways Advisors, Trish Menadue and Peter Gibson.
Students in Years 11 and 12 are able to study TCE, IB Diploma and VET programs and are supported by their tutors under the leadership of the Senior School management team.

Friends Health & Fitness
The Centre offers a variety of facilities and services such as Group Fitness classes, Personal Training, swimming lessons and squad offerings, a modern fully equipped gym, a 25m indoor heated pool, and spa and steam room. The School utilises the Centre for various classes and co-curricular activities. Friends’ School families and Alumni are eligible to receive exclusive discounted Community Membership options for individuals and families.
The Friends’ School Shop
The building on the corner of Wilson and Elizabeth Streets, known as Robey House, is home to The Friends’ School Shop, which provides school uniforms for students.
Other School Sites
Sports Facilities
Outdoor playing fields are available on both campuses, with the Bottom Green on the Commercial Road Campus and both the Top and Bottom Green on the Argyle Street Campus. Two tennis courts are situated on the Argyle Street Campus between Friends’ Early Learning and the overpass.
Two basketball/tennis courts are located between Pendle Hill and the Sheila Given Music Centre, and there is an asphalt court below the Design & Technology Workshop on the Commercial Road Campus.
The Revell Sports Centre was built in 2021 and opened in 2022. This facility provides students with an indoor gymnasium and change rooms. In addition, there are two classrooms on the ground floor and staff study areas for the Health Learning Area.
Extensive sports grounds for the whole School are situated about two kilometres north of the School between Bell Street and Queens Walk, New Town. These grounds are known as Bell Street.
The Friends' School Rowing Shed is situated in Lallaby Road, Lutana, on New Town Bay.
