Today is a great day to be you!

Whitehorse Student Advisory Group

Over the course of the year, our two Student Voice Captains, Jae and Tiana, have attended termly Whitehorse City Council meetings with other student leaders from 14 local primary schools.

Last Wednesday was their final meeting of the year. The group celebrated their involvement and the contributions they have made across the year to some Council decisions that would affect the youth of the community. I have been very proud to see Jae and Tiana step up and become more confident and vocal at these meetings across the year. They both made excellent contributions to the discussions with other student leaders from other schools and I know both of them thoroughly enjoyed being part of this group (a particular favourite were the morning teas!). Well done!

Year 6 'High School' Day

Last week when our Year 5 students were all away enjoying camp, our Year 6 teachers organised an extremely fun 'high school' day for the Year 6 students at school.

The day was set up following all things most high schools do. Home groups in the morning, locker bays, classes coded on timetables and students required to show high levels of independence to ensure they had all the right equipment for multiple subjects! It was great to be part of this and observe how the students managed themselves and supported each other to get all of their items, be on time for classes, and even handle 'detention'!

Well done to the Year 6 team for running an immersive day to help prepare the students for their journey into Year 7 in 2026. We now await the Statewide Orientation day on Tuesday 9th December where the high majority of our Year 6s will be out at their high schools for the day.

Foundation Expo

Last Wednesday evening, our Foundation team ran another highly successful Foundation Expo. This event is held to showcase all of the wonderful things that happen in Foundation and across the school for our new families, along with providing many tips and tricks for a smooth start to school life (including packing a bag and what to put in lunch boxes!).

Thank you to the team for running this event and for the contributions of many staff and students. We can't wait to see our new students begin their schooling journey in 2026!

School Colour Run

We've just wrapped up our Colour Run - and what an event it was! Students made their way around the school in their Colour Run sunnies and very white outfits... but they certainly weren't white at the end!

Thank you to the Nunawading Fire Department for sending out a fire truck to use the hose and shower the students, and thank you to the P&F team for the organisation and running of the event. Seeing the smiles and the fun to end day is what this event is all about!

International Day of People with Disability

International Day of People with Disability is a United Nations-observed day held on December 3rd each year. It aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability.

This year’s theme is ‘Fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress’. We encourage you to take a few minutes to view this video created by the Australian Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, showcasing Australia's Disability Ambassadors for 2025.
