Principal's Report
Flexible. Resilient. Positive. 2025
What a fantastic fortnight we have had at Rangeview! Senior students competed in the State Basketball finals, State Volleyball finals, and State Softball finals, we held the annual public speaking competition, Level 5 students attended the Level 5 Surf Camp, Level 3 participated in a History Box Incursion, our staff participated in a day of Professional Learning on the pupil free day, we held another Foundation 2026 Transition Session, our Junior and Senior Choir performed for the Vermont Aged Care residents, and today our whole school is participating in the Colour Run.
We are looking forward to three more weeks of learning and fun as we approach the end of term and our Summer holidays.

On Friday 21st November our school staff participated in a full day of Professional Learning here at school. We began the day looking at our School Review 2025 and the new Strategic Plan 2026 - 2029. We then unpacked more detail of the new Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM) 2.0. After morning tea we had access to an incredible PL session with Ollie Lovell on Cognitive Load Theory. After a delicious lunch we all participated in our annual CPR and First Aid training with Revive to Survive.
On Monday 17th November our Level 5 students travelled to Waratah Bay for the Level 5 Surf Camp. Despite some wet weather, our students and staff had a wonderful time. Our thanks go to the staff who attended and also to our parent volunteers Byron, Simon, James, Mike and Amanda.

We would like to acknowledge that Rangeview has had an unprecedented year in sporting achievements with teams in multiple levels making Regional or State finals.
Mixed Volleyball team, Boys & Girls Softball teams, and the Girls Basketball team all recently played in the State Final, finishing in the top eight in Victoria. Our Boys Softball team finished Runner Up in the state after an extremely close final. We also had many other exciting days, including the Boys Netball Gala Day, Regional Cricket where our Girls finished 3rd in the east, Division, Regional & State Athletics, as well as students representing Team Victoria, and three Hoop Time teams competing in the State Finals.
This year, it has been an incredible period for the school, featuring in the most State & Regional Finals of any primary school in the state. We won State Boys Tee ball and came Runner Up in State Boys Softball. Team Rangeview also took out the Whitehorse Division in 12 different sports, as well as Cross Country and Athletics, a school & Division record. Our students and coaches always set a great example of sportsmanship, school pride, friendship and fun!
These results are a testament to our talented student body, our dedicated and supportive parents and carers, and our exceptional PE team. We thank Meg Hubbard and Mitch Clark for their expertise and passion which has seen our students succeed to this level.
What a fabulous event our Whole School Colour Run was! The students had am amazing time running/walking laps of the grounds and they were showered with colour and water as they went. Thank you to our parent volunteers for assisting so enthusiastically, to out staff for assisting the students and participating themselves, and to Mr Sommers for organising the event. A huge thank you to the Nunawading Fire Station for providing the fire truck and the huge quantities of water and fun.

From 10 December 2025, the Online Safety Amendment (Social Media Minimum Age) Act 2024 will require social media platforms to:
prevent children and young people under 16 from having a social media account
deactivate or freeze existing accounts held by people under 16.
Delaying access to social media protects the health and wellbeing of young people and gives them extra time to build real world connections and digital literacy skills. The responsibility will be on the social media platforms, not parents, carers, children or schools, to implement these new restrictions. Most popular social media platforms will be age restricted. These include Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), Reddit and YouTube. Messaging services and online games, as well as apps and platforms that support health and education, can still be used.
How to help under 16s prepare for the change
Parents and carers play an important role in supporting their children to be safe online.
To help get under 16s ready for the social media minimum age requirements, you can go to the eSafety website to learn more about the social media age restrictions and find tips on how to talk about social media age restrictions with young people.
What the change means for our school
At our school, all age-restricted social media platforms are blocked for student use on the school network. To keep up to date about the new social media age restrictions, visit the eSafety website and subscribe to their newsletter.
We will again be celebrating our whole school Carols evening at The Round! We hope all families will join us for a fabulous evening of music and celebration to mark the end of another wonderful year.
