Engagement, Wellbeing and Inclusion

Wellbeing at Bemin in 2025

As 2025 draws to a close, we’re so proud to reflect back on everything our Wellbeing Team and students have achieved this year. From lunchtime clubs to Athletics Day fun, we’ve grown stronger as a community and supported hundreds of young people along the way.

Building Community & Connection

This year’s lunchtime clubs became a cornerstone of connection. We saw students drop in for Boardgames Club, unwind in the low-sensory Chill Out Space, or share tunes and ideas at Senior Music Club.

Meanwhile, our wellbeing group programs (including the externally facilitated Rite of Passage Program and the Junior Positive Relationships Group) gave many students the chance to learn healthy communication skills, express themselves, and build friendships. It was especially rewarding to watch shy or reserved students grow in confidence and begin sharing their thoughts. Across all wellbeing initiatives and lunchtime clubs, new friendships blossomed, and a stronger sense of community emerged.

Sport, Fun & Healthy Competition

We also brought out the competitive spirit - but always in good fun! Staff and students faced off in Teacher vs. Student Basketball and Volleyball matches, bringing school-wide engagement and laughter to the courts across both campuses.

Our Athletics Day was another highlight: the Wellbeing Team ran tug-of-war, hoop throw, giant Jenga and totem tennis activities, giving everyone a chance to move, connect and challenge themselves.

Adding to the fun, we welcomed the Street Surfer Bus from the Wyndham City Council to Aths Day. The Street Surfer is a mobile youth-services bus packed with gaming consoles, sports and music gear, art supplies, and space to relax and connect for young people. The Street Surfer Bus is designed to provide young people a safe, welcoming place to hang out and connect with the local Youth Services team that provides support and engagement to all the young people of Truganina and surrounds.

Supporting Wellbeing & Mental Health

We also took time this year to support our school community’s mental and emotional wellbeing. On R U Ok? Day we ran a sausage sizzle across both campuses, providing a space to talk, connect and reflect — and highlighting the importance of mental health awareness.

Our breakfast club continued to fuel many mornings, running four times a week (twice at the junior campus and twice at the senior). It gave students a nutritious start to their day and a friendly space to connect before classes.

We also provided one-on-one support to over 200 students throughout the year — helping with clinical therapeutic support, emotional regulation skills, or simply a supportive ear during a difficult time.

One of our most popular Wellbeing Team-led events this year occurred on the International Day of Friendship, when we ran a friendship bracelet-making activity: a simple but meaningful way to celebrate friendship, inclusion and connection across our school community.

Looking Ahead: End-of-Year & Holiday Support

As the school year winds down, we’re committed to keeping students supported through the break. Although we can not be there directly, we would like to share some services that are available to support young people managing mental health issues around-the-clock.

As always, if you are in a mental health emergency or crisis, call Emergency Services on 000.

We hope every student and their family enjoys a safe and restorative holiday, knowing support is still out there if they need it.
