Senior School

Senior School – Assistant Principal Address

As we conclude Term 4 and the 2025 school year, I congratulate all students on completing a successful year at Bemin Secondary College. Our second year at Bemin has been one of strong growth, connection and consolidation, as we continue to shape our identity as a college community.

Our Year 10 students should be proud of completing their final assessments and examinations in preparation for Year 11. Through Step-Up programs into VCE and VCE/VM, alongside participation in themed and connectedness weeks, students finished the year engaged and ready for the challenges ahead.

We also congratulate our Year 11 students on completing their first year of the VCE and VCE/VM programs. Throughout the year, students demonstrated academic growth, leadership and responsibility through assessments, excursions, community events and leadership opportunities, setting a positive example for younger year levels.

The completion of Unit 2 VCE examinations provided valuable preparation for Year 12 expectations. During Step-Up Week, students embraced their Year 12 identity, received their senior jackets and began planning for key milestones of their final year. Holiday learning tasks have been set to support a strong start to 2026, and we thank families for their continued support.

Term 4 also offered rich opportunities for connection and student voice through themed weeks, these included Connect Week, Diversity Week, Community Spirit Week, Active Week, Creativity Week and student-led initiatives such as the College Food Drive and Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser event. Leadership development experiences, including sessions with the Western Bulldogs, ARK VIC and the Nelson Mandela Youth Leadership Forum, reinforced the importance of empathy, integrity and service.

2026 marks a significant milestone as Bemin Secondary College welcomes all year levels at the Senior Campus from Year 10 to Year 12 for the first time. With this comes exciting opportunities to strengthen our culture, traditions and sense of belonging across Senior School.

Senior School in 2026 will continue to prioritise high expectations, wellbeing and connectedness. Through clear routines, consistent expectations and strong relationships, we aim to ensure every student feels supported, challenged and prepared to transition successfully into further education, training or employment. Working in partnership with families, we look forward to guiding our Senior School students through this important and defining stage of their educational journey.

On behalf of the Senior School team, I thank our students for their effort, our staff for their dedication and our families for their ongoing partnership. We are proud of how far Bemin has come in just two years and look forward to an exciting year ahead.

Mr. Aaron Dass

Assistant Principal - Senior School

Year 10 Update

Year 11 Update

Congratulations to all Year 11 students who successfully completed their first year of the VCE at Bemin Secondary College. As we now prepare for Year 12, and the excitement that comes with the final year of secondary schooling, it is important to reflect on the year that was.

From engaging in assessments, running various events on both campuses, participating in leadership forums, attending excursions, and setting a positive example for students in junior year levels, students have continued to prepare to be active and informed citizens with the aim of having a positive impact on our community.

In addition to acknowledging student effort and learning growth, we take this opportunity to thank the College’s dedicated teaching and education support staff, who together with families, have provided students with every opportunity to succeed and achieve their individual learning best.

We are extremely proud of our foundation cohort, and the efforts they have put in not only academically, but in building a legacy that will continue for generations to come.

The Year 12 team looks forward to welcoming students back to the College in 2025 to continue their education.

The end of Semester 2 saw students participate in Unit 2 final examinations. Covering all areas of study completed during Terms 3 and 4, students had the opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have developed. The examination period also provided students with the opportunity to build their examination technique in preparation for Year 12 and the formal examinations administered by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority.

Students performed to a high standard, and showed significant dedication to examinations, coming well prepared, with all necessary equipment, and arriving on time.

The Class of 2026 - Step Up Week

It was with great pride that Year 11 students participated in Step Up Week, during which they were introduced to the subjects they will be completing in 2026 as Year 12 students. As part of Step Up Week, students received their Year 12 Senior Jackets, and wore them throughout the week.

The week saw strong engagement from students as they completed various activities designed to prepare students for their final year of secondary education. Students participated positively in the week, showcasing considerable maturity and readiness for the challenges ahead. They also eagerly engaged in planning the various events synonymous with the final year of secondary education, including 'First Last Day', graduation and other celebratory events.

Holiday Learning

As part of the Year 12 Step Up program, all VCE and VCE VM students received extensive holiday homework that will ensure they make a positive start to the 2026 academic year.

All homework can be found on Google Classroom, and must be completed prior the first day back in 2026. Please check in with your child and ask them to show you their completed tasks

Upon their return to the College for the 2026 academic year, it is vital that all Year 12 students arrive prepared and ready to learn. Classes will begin immediately, with teachers reviewing holiday coursework and then moving to new topics in the curriculum. With the first round of assessments commencing in early Term 1, students will notice a significant increase in standard of work, and the pace at which classes will move through various topics.

Meet the Year 12 Team for 2026

In 2026, in addition to being supported by the College's dedicated teaching and education support team, all Year 12 students will be guided by the Year 12 Leadership team. The team looks forward to continuing to support students and their families as they work towards their pathway goals.

Connectedness Weeks

Active Week

Active Week at Bemin was an action-packed celebration of fitness, fun and school spirit, with students getting involved in everything from high-energy recess fitness challenges and footy kick competitions to tug of war battles, 100-metre sprints and carnival-style games. The highlight of the week was the much-anticipated Bemin Ballers basketball competition, where student and staff teams faced off in a lively showdown for the number one spot and the ultimate prize of a well-deserved fish and chips feast. The week was filled with laughter, friendly competition and plenty of memorable moments, and the attached photos capture the energy and enthusiasm our students brought to every event.

Student leadership Forum - Term 4

As part of our end-of-year leadership development, students participated in a series of reflective leadership sessions.

Western Bulldogs Leadership Session

This session encouraged students to reflect on the qualities and traits they believe are most important in a leader. Students explored examples of leadership they have experienced in their own lives and considered how these qualities influence others. The session emphasised that leadership is not about being the most skilled or accomplished, but about showing up for others, acting with integrity, and consistently living out core values.

Acts of Random Kindness Victoria Inc (ARK VIC)

Students also took part in a Leadership and Character Development workshop facilitated by ARK VIC. This session focused on empathy, kindness and positive action, reinforcing the importance of character and community-minded leadership.

Nelson Mandela Youth Leadership Forum

On Friday 10 October 2025, a group of our students had the privilege of attending the Nelson Mandela Youth Leadership Forum, a summit bringing together over 100 young leaders from across Melbourne’s western suburbs. The event was created to honour Nelson Mandela’s enduring legacy of courage, justice, and unity, while expanding on the Character Development and Peace Education programs that have been delivered in schools over the past two years.

The summit was engaging and completely student-driven. Speakers were local leaders in our community, they shared their stories, experiences, and insights. Students were also given the opportunity to ask questions. This format encouraged genuine curiosity, active listening, and meaningful dialogue—and our students rose to the occasion with thoughtful questions and strong participation.

Throughout the four-hour program, students immersed themselves in a range of inspiring activities, including interactive Peace Education workshops that challenged them to reflect on conflict resolution, empathy, and the impact of small actions in building a more peaceful community. Leadership and character development sessions that encouraged students to consider the qualities of authentic leadership and how they can apply these in their school and personal lives. Engagement with community leaders and Ministers, offering students the chance to hear real-world perspectives on leadership, advocacy, and social responsibility.

Our students represented the school with maturity and enthusiasm. After the event some students presented their experience to the rest of their cohort in an assembly.

We are proud of their involvement and look forward to seeing how they continue to grow as young leaders.

Message from Pav Joia – Year 11 Leader

Congratulations to the Year 10 Cohort of 2025

We’ve reached the end of Term 4 and officially wrapped up Year 10. I’m genuinely proud of what we’ve accomplished together and the way we’ve made the most of our first year at Bemin Secondary College.

As we head into VCE, I’m confident that we’re ready for the challenges ahead. We’ve shown resilience, maturity, and a strong sense of community this year — and that’s exactly what we will carry with us into Year 11 and beyond.

In the meantime, make sure to enjoy a very well-deserved break and take the time to look after yourselves — physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Have a great summer, and I look forward to starting our Year 11 journey together in 2026!

Message from our School Captains

School Captain Address - Parisay Fatima

My name is Parisay Fathima, and I am one of the Senior College Captains of Bemin Secondary College. Looking back on 2025, it’s incredible how far Bemin has come. This year has been full of growth, new opportunities and moments that genuinely shaped who we are as a school community. For me, Year 11 was a year of learning new things, and an even bigger perspective. I met new people, challenged myself in different ways, and learned what leadership really means in a school that’s evolving so quickly. Those experiences have shaped the way I want to lead next year. A year full of empathy, confidence, and a real commitment to listening to the voices around me.

As College Captain in 2026, my goal is to help create a legacy and strengthen a culture where every student feels supported, encouraged, and connected. I want our school to continue growing into a place where the student voice genuinely drives change, where achievements are recognised, and where the sense of community keeps getting stronger. I’m excited for everything ahead and look forward to leading alongside staff, students and our wider community to make 2026 a year we’re all proud of!

Parisay Fathima – School Captain

School Captain Address - Zainab Jumshaid

My name is Zainab Jumshaid, and we have the honour of representing Bemin Secondary College as the Year 12 College Captains for 2026. I’d like to start by saying how grateful we are for this opportunity. It’s an honour to work alongside all of you to help shape our school and build a legacy as the Year 12 Foundation students. I’m excited for the year ahead - representing our school, listening to your voices, and helping create a place where everyone feels included, supported, and proud to be.

We’re looking forward to connecting with our peers across all year levels. Our goal is to strengthen relationships and create opportunities that make our school an even better environment for everyone. As we step into Year 12, our final year, it’s important that we make it memorable. So please remember that you can always reach out to us for support, ideas, or anything you feel would improve our school experience. Our role as captains is to help make this year the one you want it to be, so don’t hesitate to share your thoughts.

Finally, we want to thank the staff for this opportunity. We’re committed to making the most of our final year together and building a legacy that will carry on through future students.

Thank you.

Zainab Jumshaid– School Captain

Student Leader 2026 Roles

The student leadership selection and interview process will continue next year when we welcome our new Year 10 students to Bemin Secondary College.

VM Mock Interview with local external providers

Students enrolled in the VCE VM program participated in a 'Mock Job Interview' as part of their final assessment for Work Related Skills, Area of Study 2. Each student completed a 10-minute interview, facilitated by a range of employers from our local community in Truganina. This event is run in alongside the WynBay Local Learning and Employment Network (LLEN).

These interviews are a capstone assessment that showcase students’ hard work and readiness for employment. Students gain confidence, practise interview skills, receive personalised feedback and engage with real-world career pathways.
