Principal's Report

As the end of our second year comes to an official conclusion it is time to reflect on the outstanding achievements across the College. There are so many foundation processes to establish at a new school from curriculum through to which buildings we will use for different year levels that it is easy to get to the end of the year without appreciating all that has been achieved. As you read this newsletter I know you will come across many articles where you may not of realised the extent what has been achieved for our students and our future school community.
Next year we will have all our year levels in place and will open with approximately 1500 students and close to 200 staff across both campuses. As the College Principal I have many proud moments that capture the year. Just from this term I felt enormous pride:
- when I viewed the work of our Year 8 Digital Media classes
- when I listened to our Junior campus students enjoy themselves at Karoake Friday lunchtimes
- when I listened to the Junior school individual speakers presenting on topics in the library at lunchtime
- when I saw the Year 12 students wearing their senior school jackets for the first time
- when I saw all our new students at both Year 6 into 7 and Year 9 into 10 interacting with each other and teachers on State Wide Transition day
- when the Senior campus gym filled with family who came to hear about beginning at the College in 2026 (see banner photo)
- when the Senior campus gym filled with family and friends to attend Awards Evening
- when our new teachers came for Staff Induction day and our Junior students facilitated activities with them
- when our first senior students to complete Unit 3 and 4 went to another school and sat their exams with confidence
- when our Senior school captains were announced and introduced at a very respectful assembly.
I could continue for quite a few pages!! There are so many students across the campuses who have shown both learning growth and social/emotional improvement across the year. We are able to do this because of the support of families. I thank all parents who pick up the telephone when we ring; patiently come to the College for support meetings and attend parent/teacher interviews. We all look forward to continuing to work together in supporting our students, your child in 2026.
School Council
A would like to thank our school council members for their ongoing support. They are truly a delight to meet with and their commitment and care for the College is to be commended. They will be back for one more meeting before we run School Council Elections. Thank you to : Meeta Vyas, Ignatius Zanetidis, Eleanor Sanders, Claire Sanders, Komal Jammu , Bhavisha Pitrol, Mohammad Mahboob Rashid, Nick Ladbrooke, Sandale Ambegoda and Mo Sidique.
New Staff 2026
The College is still in the process of recruiting both Education support staff for specific roles and teaching staff for 2026. At this stage we are short two fulltime teaching positions across a range of classes. This is not to detract that fifty-three teachers have been employed to date for 2026. We will be welcoming 31 international teachers from the following countries: New Zealand; Fiji; India; Kenya; Zimbabwe; and United Kingdom. We have facilitated an induction day for our new staff from Victoria and the Principal class team and key Education support staff will facilitate two induction days on 22-23 January to support and welcome to our school and state.
Farewell to Staff
I would like to thank the following staff for their commitment in working with the Bemin students this year and we wish them well as they move into other roles and work places:
Erin Baker
Virgina Kisiero
Ella Keating
Dudley Stagpool
Anjana Dwivedi
Avni Shah
Juhi Jain
Khuteja Almas (family leave)
Elly Ho (family leave)
Caitlin Montague
Nasrin fathima Firthous Khan
Both Caitlin and Nasrin were foundation staff members. I thank them for all their work across the last two years supporting our students. They took a risk to come along to a new school and they will always be remembered in our College history for their willingness to help with all tasks that would benefit students and staff.
Finally
As the Principal I would like to thank Samantha Kelly, the College Business Manager. Samantha's dedication to the College is visible everyday. We are very lucky to have such a skilled and experienced Business manager who understands the growth the College is experiencing. Alongside Samantha, is the Principal Team. Assistant Principals - Anthony Asta, Aaron Dass, Elyshia Sheldon, Bryce Baumgarten, Sandale Ambegoda, Lauren Turner, Nicole Marie and newly appointed Wayne Abrahams and Katherine Phillips work tirelessly for our students and staff. All of these professionals keep the students at the centre of our decision making. I thank them for going beyond many times during the year.
Finally, thank you to all our students. Without students there is no school! On behalf of all the staff I wish you all a safe and happy summer holiday break.
Joanne Camozzato
College Principal
