Robotics Update

This year the robotics club entered two teams in the national VEX V5 competition. Students must design, build, program and pilot their robots without adult assistance so there is a lot of ongoing problem solving required. They then compete against robots from other secondary school teams.
Each year robots must be entirely re-designed and optimised to perform different tasks. Seeing how many different ways teams solve the same problems is a highlight of the competition. As one of the very few government schools involved it was a particular joy to see our teams finish in the middle of the pack at the State Championships in mid-November. However, far more valuable than the final ranking are the STEM skills our students develop along the way.
We must acknowledge the role of Gaston Boucher who graduated this year. Without his persistence and incredible generosity in time and advice there would be no robotics club at Princes Hill. Thank you, Gaston, a stellar future in robotics lies ahead. We promise to keep expanding the club back here at school.
