Principal's Report

With school holidays and the summer break now upon us, I wish every member of our school community a safe, happy and restorative Christmas and summer break.
As we take a moment to look back, we celebrate the successes of our Class of 2025 and again find ourselves as one of the highest achieving government schools in the state.
Special recognition must go to Sam Thompson our 2025 Dux whose 98.90 score topped the class and to Noemie Leroux whose 98.35 was similarly impressive! Sam plans to study International Relations and Law at Monash University whilst Noemie will pursue Science studies at University of Melbourne. We celebrate the achievements of all our students across curriculum areas and wish each one the very best in their future endeavours.
VCE results across the board were again very strong with 43% of student ATAR scores above 80, and 19% above 90. Results across the range of subjects were strong with scores of 49/50 for Media and Italian respectively whilst there were 55 scores above 40 and a median study score over 32.
Academic outcomes matter, but we are deeply aware that they tell us only part of the rich experience that is school life at Princes Hill, and the learning and life journey that each young person is on.
Year 9 Wilderness Week
The series of amazing events that make up our Year 9 Wilderness Week is another example of the learning, and resilience and relationship-building opportunities our students are fortunate to experience. Few students in the education system have this experience.
Very special thanks go to our staff team who make these events possible - from teachers and support staff who plan, prepare and participate to those who facilitate the activities practically and administratively. It is a huge undertaking - please take a moment to see the Wilderness Week page in our Newsletter below. Organising the buses alone is a logistical miracle!
Building & Grounds Works
2025 was also a year of significant building and grounds works at the college with the finalisation of landscaping and basketball court upgrade works in time for Term 2 and overdue building painting and signage works completed in Term 4.
Bushfire prevention works (Shelter in Place - VSBA funded), were also taking place at our Mirimbah campus during terms 3&4 and are almost complete. The works included restumping, masonry subfloor construction, replacing timber decks/verandahs and installation of window screens to prevent ember attack. I thank our School Councillors over recent years for their sustained, supportive efforts to improve school facilities and the lived experience of our students - all within significant financial constraints. To continue these improvements, a reminder that donations to our tax-deductible Building Fund are actively sought - details can be found on the following School Council Update page.
