This evening, we will be delighted to welcome our school community to the Edgie Carols. Events like this will provide a wonderful opportunity for us to come together, celebrate the talents of our students, and strengthen the sense of connection that makes our school so special.

Gathering as a community will allow us to share in the joy of the season, support one another, and create lasting memories. I look forward to seeing families, staff and students joining in the festivities and celebrating everything that will make Edgeworth Public School such a vibrant and caring community.

Setting Students Up for Success Leading into 2026

Step Up Sessions & Extended Transition Support

In preparation for moving into their new year group, students first participated in explicit classroom lessons focused on transition, helping them understand what to expect and build confidence around change.

Our Step-Up Sessions took place on Tuesday 2 December, where students experienced a classroom environment in the year group above, supported by their current teacher. During these sessions, students also completed a “Quality World” activity, based on Choice Theory. The Quality World refers to the people, things, values and experiences that are most important to each child. Understanding what sits in each student’s Quality World helps teachers build stronger connections, support student wellbeing and better meet individual needs as students move into a new year group.

Please note that while students visited a classroom in the year above, this may not be their exact classroom for 2026. Students also ate and played in their 2026 stage areas at recess as part of the transition experience.

Extended Transition Support

Some students may benefit from additional transition support as they prepare for the new school year. Through our Extended Transition program, students identified by their classroom teacher in consultation with the Learning and Support Team were provided with extra, tailored transition opportunities.

This may have included a personalised social story, opportunities to meet their new teacher, additional transition visits and SLSO support where appropriate. This targeted approach aims to build confidence, reduce anxiety and ensure a positive start to the new school year. Parents will be informed if this additional support applies to their child.

Play It Forward – Playground Design Showcase

Our Stage 3 students have been hard at work this term designing exciting new playground concepts as part of the Play It Forward Playground Design Project, in collaboration with our SRC and experts from the community.

We are excited to invite families and carers to view the top seven finalist designs at the Play It Forward Playground Design Showcase, held in the School Library on Thursday evening during our Carols event. Community members will have the opportunity to view the designs and vote for their favourite.

For those unable to attend on the night, viewing and voting will also be available on Friday morning from 8:40–9:10am and during Break 1 (11:10–11:40am).

We are incredibly proud of our students’ creativity, teamwork and innovation, we look forward to sharing their amazing work with our school community!

Semester 2 Reports

Student reports will be distributed to families via School Bytes on Wednesday, 17 December. These reports provide valuable information on student progress and achievement throughout the year. We sincerely thank our teachers for their professionalism, dedication and ongoing commitment to supporting the learning, growth and wellbeing of every student.
